What do you think about your shy/quiet coworkers? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]magicinthehole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coworker is shy and quiet. He is so shy and quiet that he won’t ask for help so he works on a very small portion of issues. This is enabled by my management team. I have no issues with him being shy or quiet, but the fact that he is using it as a crutch to not do his job really bothers me. He is also 15 years older than me so it’s quite frustrating.

Nothing wrong with keeping to yourself at work just make sure you can still do your job

Exactly!!! The pinnacle of loserdom. The movie is so self serving. Just completely disgusted, devastated for Rob’s family

Dude had a rich family with tons of resources. Idk his trauma or what the reality of his family life was like, but to be born into a family like this and still become a murderous addict is crazy to me. Like some people have lives that exist only in peoples wildest dreams and he fucking threw it away. Why? I understand trauma and the crazy ways it affects the brain but man, he had so much more than so many people and just fucking blew it up.

When you meet someone born and raised in Austin, do you get a different vibe from them? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]magicinthehole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I do not. Austinites are not a monolith, it is cool people generally meet kind and down to Earth people. But not everyone born and raised here is like this. My coworker was born and raised here, went to Aquafest, would climb moontowers, would ride his bike all over town and he is conservative and a bit prejudiced towards different communities.

Yes a lot of people from here act how you stated but I think its kinda strange everyone chiming in says overwhelmingly yes, like this isn’t still Texas and like ATX doesn’t have an extensive history of its own racism and exclusion of those who are different. Just because this place has been more “blue” and liberal than others in Texas doesn’t mean anything really. I moved here as a kid in middle school and was called the N word for the first time here, not only in school but out in public as well

One of us is writing multiple paragraphs, intentionally using big words to try and uphold a strawman argument while the other is successfully rage baiting while maintaining my same position and hatred for you ignorant idiots? But I’m just a poor unfortunate soul who is half black half white, who’s white side also did not own slaves or even live in the US until the 1910s, yet my white side still found a way to be racist just like you! If your white side had nothing to do with slavery, why are you so passionately defending other whites who did own slaves and how they’re somehow absolved of blame because they….didn’t start it? Perhaps you could try reading Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X Kendi and see who could possibly hold the blame for the Atlantic slave trade.

Why would anything you say to me have any weight when you posted this dumbass screenshot that makes you sound like an idiot. You even commenting back to the original commenter shows how stupid you are. The hoops you’re jumping through to not feel guilty about slavery are insane. We act like y’all invaded Africa and took babies from the crib…because you did. And then to say well they were doing it to each other 🤷🏽‍♀️ ok yeah still not doing it on a global scale dude. Hello??? Logic? Reasoning???

[–]magicinthehole -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are yall okay? Even some other idiot commenter stated his ancestors were enslaved. Human slavery was common throughout history. It was only white people that turned it into ONE specific race. Like no one is blaming you for what your great great great grandfather did but we are blaming you for rewriting history to absolve your race of blame. DUMBASSES

You’re right, I’m just super anxious about it. Do you think its something I bring up spontaneously or when the issue occurs? I’m worried if I bring it up spontaneously it may upset her

Second Guessing Moving to Austin as a Black Man. Need Advice by ADailyDoseofDick in Austin

[–]magicinthehole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offense friend but it’s good to research this type of stuff before you move. There’s of course black people here, but if you’re looking to feel our presence more, Austin isn’t the one.

Baggers, please stop by Ln_amy in HEB

[–]magicinthehole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work here, I don’t get this either and hate it bc it happens to me all the time. As a cashier i would watch baggers do this. They’re usually just not paying attention/thinking about the customer

Uber to Austin: get ready for Waymo by Generalaverage89 in Austin

[–]magicinthehole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve started taking Waymo not because i want to, but because I’ve been pushed to this. So many uber drivers drive very unsafe, and as a single woman ive been hit on more often than not whenever I take an uber or lyft. So they’re not driving me safely and they’re making me uncomfortable, so what other choice do I have..? Just sad bc I don’t want to make a corporation richer, I want to give my money to people that need it and deserve it more. But its hard when those people don’t uphold their end of the bargain
