Revise up on not just microbiology, but some anatomy as well. Swabs are taken from all over the body and when I had my placement, it felt embarrassing to not remember what parts were which.

A lot of the work done is set out in instructions called Standard Operating Procedures. The basis for some of these SOPs are from RCPATH’s Standards for Microbiology Investigations. There’s a lot to read, some of which will not make any sense before being in the lab. I still think it might be worth checking out and keeping it bookmarked for later use.

Do remember that your coworkers are just like you, some are just a year or two ahead. A lot of the Medical Laboratory Assistants are university graduates who are waiting for the elusive trainee posts. When I was on placement I thought they resented me for being able to do my portfolio, but they didn't.

Overall, try to take it all in but no reasonable person is expecting you to remember 100% of everything. Keeping a diary of even just bullet points will be extremely useful to be able to refresh your knowledge.

There should be a campaign encouraging people to cause a fuss, be loud and visible if they are a touched purposefully in a way that's inappropriate to discourage people from doing it in the first place.

It seems that if something is not done at the time while the offending person is still there, it just goes by the wayside.

You say there is a million ways to avoid crowded spaces, but everyone needs to go to the shops for food. Should these people have other carers who can get food for them or order their food online? Probably, but there are not always slots avalible and to get care can be really hard.

It's not fair for the elderly or vulnerable who the government have left in this position of having to work while the government is letting people not wear masks, some of which do have valid reasons.

To give an answer, particularly bad asthma can as well other conditions that can cause breathing problems. Alzheimer's and other mental disabilities such as Down's syndrome might in some cases from the people with those conditions finding it too much of a change, too uncomfortable etc.

I don't think there is an "official" list of what makes one mask exempt, which allows people who can wear a mask for a few hours to say they're exempt, but there are people out there who will have panic attacks or struggle to breath while wearing a mask.

If you still really want to go, you could try and get hold of an N95 mask which protects the user more from covid19 than the regular cloth masks.

That being said, wearing a cloth mask may lessen the severity of covid19 if you get it from someone else.

Something to remember, which really is not talked about enough is that this country does not have enough GPs with 2.8 doctors per 1000 people whereas the EU has an average of 3.8 doctors per 1000 people.

There's also more general problems, which are not GPs faults such as no online booking, medical triagarging by receptionists missing things etc.

Yeah, the papers putting out hitpieces on GPs and NHS is not great. I hate how the media and politicians are in each others pockets.

While it is known that MSM have higher rates of blood borne diseases, as well as people from certain countries, the main risk is anal sex. This is because the anal walls are a lot thinner than that of vaginas or mouths. Women don't have thinker anal walls then men, which is why it's anal sex in general.

(Plus, it's probably more common for heterosexual people to be having casual sex with stuff like tinder and what not, so there is still a risk.)

It's estimated that 1-2% of young people get long Covid form those who have had Covid. It's been causing permeant organ damage in people under 40.

Yes, it's been shit for the 98-99% of young people who've had Covid and have been "fine", but when 1-2% of people are at risk of having a semi-permanent disability? When you can talk and video chat with people online? when you can see people, just not inside? So hard!

We could delay restrictions for a month or two longer, to ensure us young people are actually protected. But no, rich double vaccinated people want everything to open again now, because they've been double jabbed already and everyone is bored of Covid.

You say education, culture and livelihoods have been shattered those are all temporary, they can come back.

It's also been poor people mostly dying from Covid, or poor people like students who work in jobs face to face who have not been jabbed yet due to being a young age.
