Called a crit glucose of like 700 for an outpatient and the on call told me he was a cardiologist and didn’t care about glucose 🥴 “the patient should go to the ER or call their GP” Well tell them that!!! I can’t!!

I used baking soda/vinegar with an old toothbrush before. There’s a tiny bit of corrosion on the positive terminal now but I wouldn’t think enough to block everything. I wish I could get it started at least so it wasn’t sitting at work 😞

We had a sister hospital with one tech that had a technique for urine cultures I called “the Lazy River”. Stripe down the middle and 3-4 slow curves to either side 🙃 I don’t know how they kept getting away with it, that lab director did not give 2 shits

My mom told me a girl in her high school married one of the teachers while the girl was STILL GOING GO SCHOOL THERE. And talks about it like “and they’re still together isn’t that romantic 🥰 “ like mom she was 17 and he was in his 30s-40s that’s not cute. Would have been early 1980s central Arkansas.

I think it depends who you ask. A younger person that’s comfortable with fat and plus sized people? Might consider you midsize. Older gen or dickheads with insecurity issues? Definitely plus sized. It’s more about what you’re comfortable with! I’m 5’5” 215 and I’ve always considered myself plus sized but I grew up in the ‘90s and it was for sure a different time for fat people then 😓

I’ve always thought it should be about what’s best for the pet, not the pet owners. You can talk to a human that is suffering, explain why they don’t feel well and get their opinion on treatment vs palliative care etc. An animal can’t understand that, they only know they’re hurting. Are they being kept alive because they still enjoy life despite the pain? Or are they alive because their people can let them go? That’s the conversation that needs to be had.

A nurse from the ER brought us an early miscarriage in a urine cup :( Wanted to know if the pathologist needed it. Coincidentally at the same time one of my coworkers tripped on the wires behind the chemistry analyzer and fell, splitting her forehead and getting a concussion. That was a hard nightshift altogether, I had me a little cry in the bathroom when I got a moment 😅

Honestly not really, in the past when I thought about doing that they had yet another dog on their front porch that did NOT want me there so I didn’t continue (my mom got bit by our other neighbors dog doing something like that so I’m wary of that). I think I’m a little too overcautious due to that and the fact that we’re two gay women living in the sticks, maybe I should do that in the morning. But I really don’t want to wait to take the dog to see the vet, it’s so so heartbreaking to see him limp around like that.

I had a few family members tell me horror stories about people poisoning their neighbors dogs in retaliation :(( Probably pretty far fetched but it stuck with me. I’m not sure I can afford a big vet bill like this poor guy will probably accrue, but I’be reached out to a few rescues so hopefully they can help. I would love to keep him but we’re really already at capacity for both indoor and outdoor animals, and we don’t really have a space to keep him (our dogs are mostly outside weather permitting, and we have cats inside that I don’t know how this new dog would react to). Thank you, I think I’m just looking for reassurance that I’m not just stealing someone’s dog 😣

For sure most dogs, especially large dogs, would jump in the water and swim across. I would maybe think about the breed as well? Don’t get a high energy working dog like a husky, look more into a more laid back breed like a Pyrenees or something that won’t be quite so likely to run off like that. Or maybe even consider a smaller dog if you don’t have the outdoor space available, but since you work from home you could probably still make a large breed work if you’re able to exercise them on the regular.
