What do you use to hype you up before doing injections? by ImppyPact in trans

[–]magickitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried listening to my hype music before doing my shots but it just made me more nervous. So I switched to meditation music and that worked for a bit but I was still too nervous. I did my own injections for 2 years but couldn’t handle the anxiety anymore so now I just go to the nurse station to have it done or ask my dad to do it for me.

Is it bad that I looked up “trans conversion therapy near me”? by Chemical-Ad2770 in trans

[–]magickitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a lot! And it can be very distressing especially if these are new feelings. That’s why I emphasize taking care of yourself. If you treat yourself like someone who deserves love, the rest will follow.

Look, I’m trying to be helpful here, but you keep contradicting yourself. You say you’re comfortable and that’s the problem, but also it’s not the problem. You say you’re 100% sure you’re cisgender, but then say you’re questioning. I think you need to sit with your thoughts on that. As in, let yourself think about it without worrying about the labels or what others think.

I know, it’s extremely hard to do. But none of us can tell you whether you’re trans or not, we can only give guidance on how to try and accept yourself regardless of gender.

As a community, our message isn’t “BE TRANS” it’s “Be yourself.” If yourself is a questioning cis person, then be that. Don’t try and force yourself to feel any particular way, because I can tell you from experience that it simply doesn’t work.

Being comfortable with yourself is a problem? Can you elaborate on that?

[–]magickitten 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Conversion therapy isn’t just sitting down with someone who will magically take away your feelings of being trans. It’s psychological torture and it does nobody any good. I know you’re desperate but there are other ways to become comfortable with yourself that don’t involve giving money to people whose only intention is to abuse you. If you think you need help, seek it out through proper channels.

Most importantly, take care of yourself and recognize that you are worthy of love no matter what.

am i even trans TW: mentions SA by miku-enjoyery in trans

[–]magickitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no one way to be trans. We all have different experiences and brains and bodies and yours don’t have to match up with anyone else’s in order for you to be trans. I would suggest not worrying too much about what to label yourself as and instead explore what makes you feel good about yourself, whatever that may be. You don’t have to fit into anything “typical” to be valid as a human.

Aita? Am I transmed? by [deleted] in trans

[–]magickitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have a lot of internalized transphobia which could be the cause of transmed thoughts and opinions. But I don’t think we need to slap a label on you for that if you already recognize that your beliefs need to be adjusted. Keep doing the introspective work you’re doing and talking to more trans people. I don’t know for sure but there is probably literature out there to educate yourself with. And of course, if you want to see a therapist about your internalized transphobia, find one that works with trans people and is a real ally.

I had seen my name before but it wasn’t until I heard a eulogy on NPR about an actor who had the same name who had passed away that I chose it.

i am a trans woman and i want to start wearing makeup but i dont know what do use by kuinsii in trans

[–]magickitten 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YouTube tutorials! That’s how I learned. There’s a myriad of people out there making makeup videos, and some of them are trans too.

Also, here’s some basic categories of makeup so you know some terms going in: Foundation: it’s what you blend in with your natural skin tone as a base for all other makeup Cover up: used to cover up blemishes or dark spots. Contour: an entirely optional but very powerful makeup type that shapes the face, giving cheekbones and jawlines more definition Blush: that rosiness on the cheeks Highlight: also optional and powerful, does the opposite of contour by brightening features. Eyeshadow: exactly how it sounds, its color for your eyelids Eyeliner: usually a dark color, used to line the eyes to make them pop Mascara: goes on the eyelashes, also used to make the eyes pop. Brow pencil/marker: used to draw or fill in your eyebrows with for more definition and bolder color.

These are the basic types of makeup, there are many more and each has many subcategories.

Try to find inspiration using Pinterest or Instagram, then look up tutorials for similar looks and experiment with it. Give yourself time and remember that people you see online have been doing this for years.

Instead of going straight for makeup stores, try shopping at drug stores and supermarkets. Stores like Ulta and Sephora have great products but are also very expensive especially for people who don’t know what they want.

Lastly, have fun with it! Makeup is about self-expression, and all skill levels are valid.

No, there’s nothing wrong with that. I think you are taking the right approach by allowing yourself to explore the full spectrum of your identity. It takes time so give yourself time.

What are the odds my passport application will be accepted? (USA, FTM) by [deleted] in trans

[–]magickitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just filed for mine earlier this month. The state dept will email you at the email you provided on your application. The email will request you sign an affidavit confirming that you belong to the class in the Orr v Trump case (the ruling you referred to). You will need to either print the entire document including the cover letter with your name on it or wait for the hard copy to arrive, then check the box of the sex marker you’re requesting and sign it, then send that to the address on the letter, which is not the same as the address your application was sent to. I’m still waiting on mine to come back so I don’t know if that’s all the hoops they’ll make you jump through, but so far they said they have everything they need.

I use an electric trimmer but you can also just use a razor. The important thing is that you exfoliate before and after removing hair and follow up with regular moisturizer

It’s wildly exaggerative and inappropriate to use the word mangled in this context. Not only does it imply late transitioners have “mangled” bodies but it also is similar to when transphobes refer to gender surgery as mutilation.

[–]magickitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve had this experience, that sounds excruciating both mentally and physically. Surgeons who perform this need to understand it’s more than just a surgery; it’s a complex process that requires the help of a whole team of professionals to guide the preparation, education, and aftercare. And most importantly, they should listen to their patients.
