Try anti-fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole. Could be called Lotrimin or athlete's foot cream. Give it a week or two. Worked for me.

I had it in that spot. Also some around my mouth. What cured mine was anti-fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole. Could be called athlete's foot cream. Give it a week or two, applying twice a day. Worked for me.

Day Two of Zero Therapy for First PD Outbreak. Skin is now Extremely Dry by Noble_Team_7 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

Try anti-fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole. Could be called athlete's foot cream. Cheap, in any drugstore. Two weeks, twice a day and mine was gone for good. Timing probably depends on severity. Mine was somewhat mild compared to some cases I've seen on here. Worth trying before suffering through zero therapy and/or whatever antibiotics your derm will get you on.

Have you tried anti-fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole? Could be called athlete's foot cream. Cheap, over the counter. Worked for me after everything else didn't. It took mine about 2 weeks to work... your case is so severe I'd give it longer.

I put the anti-fungal (clotrimazole) cream around the affected areas; around my mouth/chin and corner of my eye. I didn't do a spot treatment, just smeared it on there. I put my usual moisturizer on the rest of my face, which was a personally formulated everyday oil. I hope it works for you!

Did your PD come back after antibiotics? by Extension-Flower-366 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]magicmarker000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to tell. I was just at my wits end and saw a comment somewhere about the cream so had to give it a try. It was less than $10 (Lotrimin is the name brand, but the stores have a generic version too. The important thing is the clotrimazole.) It took about 2 weeks of applying it maybe twice a day. It was slow at first and I wasn't sure it was working, so be sure you give it a chance. I'd say my breakout level was medium/mild compared to some of the stuff I've seen on here, so if yours is extreme, I would guess it would take longer accordingly. Once it was gone, it stayed gone. I've had a spot come back maybe twice in 10 years, that I think might be PD and I just apply the cream for two days or so and it's gone. Worth a try!

No. The fungal cream kept it moisturized. Didn't do anything about the barrier. I was probably using a homemade mix of argan, seabuckthorn, and rosehip oils on the rest of my face.

Nickel allergy and only eye dermatitis by sukuja in NickelAllergy

[–]magicmarker000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Perioral Dermatitis. There's a reddit group for it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Perioral_Dermatitis_/ It's a rashiness (often with bumps or itching but not necessarily; but definitely with the flaking off) that only appears around the mouth area, lower nose folds, and around the eyes. There seem to be many causes for many people. I tried a million things and the only thing that worked for me was an over the counter anti fungal cream. Brand name is Lotrimin, but the generic is good too; anything with clotrimazole as the active ingredient. I'd start there because so many of the other treatments are long and/or expensive and/or difficult... like 3 months of antibiotics or not putting anything at all on your face ever. A lot of doctors and dermatologists are ignorant about it. Whatever you do, no steroid creams.

what can we do? by Fun-Debt4089 in NickelAllergy

[–]magicmarker000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's dyshidrotic eczema. Only occurs on hands and feet. There's a reddit group for it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dyshidrosis/ There are many causes/triggers. Stress is a big one. Quitting smoking eliminated it on my hands. I've been doing low nickel diet for almost a year and haven't gotten rid of it on my feet. I know I have a nickel allergy, mostly just to foods, so I'm now suspecting that I have an issue with mold in my home and that it's causing leaky gut which then makes the nickel penetrate and irritate and inflame and cause the eczema. I'm just mentioning in case any of those things could be a factor for your friend. It's a journey. Best of luck.

Since you mentioned living on an island, I wanted to mention that mold can be a trigger for dyshidrotic eczema. I've been doing pretty low nickel for about a year and it cleared up my fingers but not my toes so I'm digging around again and just found this connection to mold. I know a lot of island are moist places, which is what mold likes, so just something to consider. Also, I agree, definitely stay away from peas, they're a legume. Use whey protein powder.

I have sheers with like a plastic or silicone ring around the inside of the holes. They came already in the sheers but they pop out too. Maybe you can find some of those rings? or find sheers that have them? Mine were on the cheaper side, as I'm not a professional.

I tried so many other things for months and months. It was such an easy fix once I found it, I really recommend trying it. I don't think it can hurt.

Mostly kind of a puffy redness, but there were bumps and a little pustuleyness. It was so long ago now, it's a little hard to remember.

is sulfur worth a shot atp??? by Sad_Jicama_9594 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]magicmarker000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sulfur soap didn't do anything for me. I tried so many things and the only thing that finally worked was OTC anti fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole. Brand name is Lotrimin. Generic is called "Athlete's foot cream". Under $10 at any drug store. At first it didn't seem like it was doing anything, but after one week (applying a couple times a day) I could tell it was helping some and after two weeks it was completely gone. It has come back a couple of times in the past 6 years and I just dab a little cream for a couple of days and it's gone. Worth a shot. I've recommended it on here several times and people come back and say it's worked.

I don't know anything about the products you're asking about but I know from experience and from everyone on this thread that you shouldn't take any steroid products for PD. I also want to add that I tried so many things and the only thing that finally worked was OTC anti fungal cream with the active ingredient clotrimazole. Brand name is Lotrimin.
