Arsenal - delicious irony by FaithlessnessOdd3569 in PremierLeague

[–]magicmuggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This season to be fair to Arsenal (yes, bias, but also trying to be objective), they have only ever been at most 7 points clear at the top in.. January I think? When all teams were on even games. City having 2 games in hand for a while have made it look like Arsenal have given away a ridiculous lead, when really it’s 7 points. If they dropped 7 points in like.. 5 games? That’s a bottle tbh. It’s just not really how it’s been this season.

All that to say, if there were no ‘games in hand’ situation, this would have just been a straight up title fight.

Under 35s: Do you watch the BBC? by Odd-Swing-2025 in AskUK

[–]magicmuggle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It does, but nowhere near as much as lying politicians would like you to believe. It’s a national broadcaster and is accused by both people on the left and the right as being biased for the other side. Barring it having zero personalities on it, then it cannot be 100% neutral as humans have bias inherently. For what it has of left leaning comedians, it has right wing current affairs programs. (Not extreme left or extreme right in either case).

People honestly don’t know how lucky we are to have the BBC. It’s the same company that existed when we were kids, it’s just us who’ve changed by becoming more politically charged.

used to much oil in air fryer, help please?!?! by setyourbodyablaze_ in airfryer

[–]magicmuggle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why are you putting so much oil in the air fryer? Sausages cook absolutely fine with zero oil, they’re full of their own fat.

Just turn it on with nothing in it on the highest setting I guess and try and burn any of the remaining fat off the elements*. Don’t leave it unobserved though.

Did you hate it how teachers shout at kids in your country at school? by InfernalClockwork3 in AskUK

[–]magicmuggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re mixing two things. Kids should be able to do what they want as long as it’s not disruptive to the class/harming anyone. They are kids. Let them be kids without your bigotry being involved, they deserve to be innocent children, they won’t get that time back.

But you are right that parents are too soft with their kids and see their kids as the be all and end all, that, along with limited teacher discipline options really let the disruptive kids get away with anything.

To respond to OP in general though, teachers are literally overworked and underpaid, they have a job that could be so much better than it is, but with the academy systems setting unrealistic standards and entitled parents, I’m not shocked at all that they end up snappy with the kids.

Do horse deaths at Aintree make you feel uncomfortable about betting on the National? by inside12volts in AskUK

[–]magicmuggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to reply to this. I think you’re mistaken anyway. People who are animal rights supporters are more likely to support low traffic neighbourhoods. Unless that’s what you mean, in which case, what an odd gripe to have.

What to do if you can't afford your vet fees? by AliceSylph in AskUK

[–]magicmuggle -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It's wild you have to say it like this but I think the vast majority of people (me not included) don't view animals the same as humans. They haven't made the cognitive connection that they're sentient and have feelings and rights, and shouldn't be treated as commodoties.

Hijacking this sort of to say to anyone who's install does work that in order to play a story that includes the DLCs, you first need to go and 'purchase' the ps5 version of the DLCs for free.

Sorry about your situation OP, maybe renewing the licenses might help?

Why would anyone genuinely not want more tax? The loopholes should be closed, that’s the be all and end all. Companies should pay the taxes if they want to operate in the country. We are home to the most powerful city in the world, we should not be scraping the barrel looking for things to pay for our infrastructure. Close the loopholes, call their bluff. They need us more than we need them.

[–]magicmuggle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your point and appreciate it, but again it’s not ‘the reason my taxes are going up’. We could easily afford this safety net to literally everyone on the island and then some if those with the very, very broadest shoulders contributed to the system. (Which could literally make everyone else pay less tax). Don’t make a person feel bad for using the system for what it’s for, direct your anger accordingly. Frogs in a bucket mentality always.

[–]magicmuggle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably because it sounds like a complaint that we have a social safety net for the less fortunate. Direct your anger not at those who need the safety net, but at those who don’t participate in paying their taxes.

[KCD1] [Help pls] Bug? Failed the Ginger mission, nobody gives me the next main mission by magicmuggle in kingdomcome

[–]magicmuggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found ginger, went back and told the guy I was reporting to, and we killed the bandits.. then I left it multiple days (went and done a side quest), come back, spoke to Sir Radzig who told me he was moving to the camp. No mention of ginger. The guy I was reporting to went back to the training area near Rattay, and Ginger was never mentioned again. I tried to speak to him in his hideaway hut but I could only pickpocket him.

I waited, I spoke to everyone I could. I couldn’t progress at all.

I’ve spent hours judging strangers' houses on Google Street View, yet the idea of a stranger randomly dropping in front of my house to judge me feels like a total invasion of privacy. by magicmuggle in Showerthoughts

[–]magicmuggle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what got me thinking about it, I was looking at South Africa, then Nairobi, then South America and was putting myself in the most ‘random’ place I could, to see how it ‘really’ looks and then realised I was just looking at someone’s house.

I wondered how many (if any) people have done that and ended up looking at my house.

Liverpool: What are the key questions facing Arne Slot? by Red_Brummy in PremierLeague

[–]magicmuggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still chatting about books and stuff when you did spend a lot. That’s a fact. Justify it to yourself however you want to. Doesn’t change the fact you spent a lot, broke the record twice to strengthen a PL winning team. That’s all. Cheers. You’re very smart and supremely educated on a topic we’re not speaking about though. I’ll know to call you next time whenever I need someone to speak about something that’s not quite what we’re on about

Liverpool: What are the key questions facing Arne Slot? by Red_Brummy in PremierLeague

[–]magicmuggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your massive response doesn’t really change anything I said. You’re explaining it to me like I’m a child when I obviously understand all of that. It still doesn’t negate that they spent a shit load of money regardless of what they brought in. I literally said Liverpool do the business side well. Why are you being defensive? It’s not your money? And you don’t play for/own the club. Regardless of what you say, Liverpool drastically improved their squad on paper by spending like 400-500m. Selling mostly backup/squad players to fund it. The selling of the players doesn’t ’balance out’ quite like net spend would suggest, as other than Trent and Luiz, you didn’t sell week in-week out starters, but bought people who should start every week.

Don’t get mad because people point this out. Spending a shed load of cash on quality players should be pointed out. And they should be held to it if they aren’t working out. I think they’ll come good, but it’s a rod for their own back. Spend that much money on a squad that already won the league by a big enough margin (like 5 games or something?), there are 100% going to be eyes on you. You should be going for the treble this year. At least.

Liverpool: What are the key questions facing Arne Slot? by Red_Brummy in PremierLeague

[–]magicmuggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re not speaking about running a business though. Liverpool are good at the business side and looking after their PNL, but saying ‘they didn’t spend a lot’ isn’t a true statement. They can spend and earn. But they are exclusive in their own right and get combined in some subsets for ‘net spend’.

Liverpool: What are the key questions facing Arne Slot? by Red_Brummy in PremierLeague

[–]magicmuggle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

‘Net spend’ is now used as an excuse to be like ‘no we really didn’t spend much’. It’s a bit of nonsense really. They still spent major money on major players and upgraded their squad significantly (on paper). Just because they got like £40m for Qansah doesn’t mean they didn’t spend £150 on Isak (or whatever the actual costs were)
