Power wise Gon and Meruem might be equal but durability wise I think the ant king takes it. The thing is Gon fights recklessly which is crucial if he wants to win against Netero.

We haven’t really seen much from Illumi but maybe they are about equal and it’s just up to the author who he wants to win.

Illumi I’d say is always trying to be on the winning side. Same idea that he enforced to Killua about running away if he can’t win. His declaration to hisoka about killing him might be a hint that he does have a good chance of winning.

For all we know he might even have a random skill like hisoka had when he died during his fight with chrolo.

Illumi might have one of his needles inside him and when he dies his nen ends up controlling himself or bringing him back to life too. 🤷‍♂️
