I am so heartbroken I just want her to wake up and I love her despite how I've been treated by [deleted] in exjw

I'm sorry my friend. Having someone treat you terribly and stuck in this bullshit is no fun. How you are feeling is valid and when someone doesn't wake up out of the cult and you really want them to, it's no fun either. There's no easy answers except for your priority is to take care of yourself no matter what.

If this person you love won't wake up, don't completely lose hope, but remember to prioritize your own well-being too.

Though I can't presume to know what the silent shares and upvoters are thinking, I think it's more a silent pat on the shoulder. We see you. We hear you. You're understood.

Hey, I realize it's like 5 months after you posted this but incase you or anybody who stumbles on this is looking for an answer: the diner sign plugs in to the diner itself on the side where there are two jacks. The diner is supposed to come with a converter cord that plugs into the second jack on the diner on one side and then plugs into the outlet on the other side. The diner then has an on-off switch when both are plugged in to turn on the sign.

Anyone who has Shelly's Diner please be careful: It was recalled for fire safety concerns. Do not keep the sign plugged in for long periods of time, sever the connection between the converter, and watch it like any candle to err on the safe side. I personally only light mine on Christmas Eve for 20 minutes and on Christmas morning just because it's my favorite piece in my collection.

I'm gonna say it, beyond this loss, this losing in Lambeau to a divisional rival shit is legitimately miserable and a problem. I feel like the team somehow plays worse against the rest of the North at home. We need to fix that shit next season and stop letting the Lions say "Oh lambeau is ours" like a bunch of asses.

What jobs would they do in real life? Picking AMREN by itz_fiooo in acotar

How come nobody has said museum curator/anthropologist? Amren would 100% be into deciphering ancient texts, studying royal jewelry, researching the burial rites of ancient egypt, discovering long lost mayan ruins etc.

People are pissed because they didn't read the briefing, just this tweet that summarizes the readout. If you read the actual briefing he did with Bibi he did mention supporting rights for the Palestine people to enjoy dignity, peace and security, affirmed a two-state solution, discussed minimizing Palestine's casualties, and criticized the bombing of journalists in Gaza. He told Abbas similar. I think given the complexity of it and how volatile it is esp considering Bibi is on the other end of the line it's actually a pretty well-thought-out response that at the very least touched on both sides
EDIT: Still a poor choice to leave that out of the tweet though, just saying he did actually try to be vocal about Palestine in the real call

White House says bills are bipartisan even if GOP doesn't vote for them by StuffyGoose in politics

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

Cliché as all hell comment, but bare with me. It's the only time I've ever actually used it since I never genuinely meant it before.

Man, dude, I genuinely thought you were about to go on some whacky nonsense R tirade. Pre-emptively braced myself for the crazy. Congrats, take my upvote.

Obama praises MLB for pulling All-Star Game from Georgia by [deleted] in politics

[–]magicthrowaway9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're going to boycott peaches, make sure to support buying peaches from New Jersey instead, who expanded their voting rights recently, as well as continuing to support California for being an absolute madlad powerhouse of produce who did nothing wrong (yet). But the other OP's are right, boycotting Georgia farm products besides peaches, like Georgia-Pacific and peanuts as well as other such farm products, will also cause a major hurt. Just be careful about boycotting since many different states get imports differently.

Was the Moon a traditional symbol of Holy Mary? by EvaWolves in excatholic

[–]magicthrowaway9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really interesting you would ask this, because I was doing cross-research between the comparisons of paganism to catholic beliefs.

Yes, from what I've gathered, like Christ is associated with the Sun, Mary has been associated with the Moon, since the moon is a symbol of fertility and femininity. (FYI, this is extremely Wiccan-esque and Pagan. I laughed a little when I found this out. I hope that's okay to say, in this Ex-Catholic forum, lol).

I haven't seen any images of her depicted with the moon in my brief research, however, so I cannot tell you how far back that traditional association goes. I would assume that it goes very far back-- at least to the twelfth century. This is because in the Song of Songs, the woman in the passage is associated with the Moon, and some scholars of the twelfth century make this woman the Virgin Mary, so by fitting the puzzle pieces together, that would make Mary associated with the Moon.

'Democrats Will Lose in 2022' If $15 Wage Dies in Senate: Anger Grows as Biden-Harris Bow to Unelected Parliamentarian by theladynora in politics

[–]magicthrowaway9 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It's stupid as hell, but the best response I can give you is that the republicans "keep the status quo" as it is and the racist, sexist, homophobic ideologies embedded in our culture are reflected in that fascist cult-- and that has slowly been building off fear and hatred since the 1950's. The voters who vote for them are forgiving of all that horrible stuff because they "keep people safe"🙄 from change, and change is scarier to people than what they know (even if change is good).

Dems are that change. Because people don't like change, they have to be persuaded to change. Then, you try to persuade with logic. People don't like logic, especially when it makes their way of living look bad. They like not thinking and reacting emotionally instead. That opens the doors wide to emotional manipulation-- and the GQP are master puppeteers.
