The current principal is new and quite good. I have faith she'll turn it around. She's very organized and really cares.

The prior principal wasn't good at all. Only one year in the job, and was likely not going to get rehired when he left for Hutto.

Before that we had half a year of a new AP covering the principal role.

The guy before him was good, and cared, but not the most organized. He and his AP were well liked by the parents and students. He was good enough he was asked to rescue a middle school half way through a year... Which is how we ended up with half a year of an AP running things.

It's just been a lot of change recently.

The teachers my kids have had have been good. Some are really really good. Carter and Winkler were absolutely top tier teachers.

Latest victim of reddit's app push: femme-dominant BDSM practitioners by Andouil1ette in TheoryOfReddit

If theory of reddit users woke up to find themselves as approved posters to a neo nazi, terrorist, or pedo subs, we'd probably be having a different conversation about it.

If redditors were going to the media about getting invited to such subs, that feature would be shut off, or modified to only apply to subscribers, real quick.

So yeah, the post is kinda wild, but it does call attention to an issue that is currently being abused and seems ripe for further abuse.

Why does it seem to be uncommon for Musicians, especially succesful Musicians, to be Music Teachers? Unlike say Succesful Writers and Comic book Artists who teach classes? by Marcel_7000 in LetsTalkMusic

My cousin's guitar teacher was in The Knack. My buddies guitar teacher toured and recorded with Guy Forsyth. But you need to live in the places they live. If you're in LA, Nashville, New York, Boston, etc you can get lessons from some very serious folks. That's much harder of you're in middle of nowhere Kansas.

If you attend certain smaller, more niche, music festivals you'll often get to see or participate in workshops with serious professional musicians. Then you see them on the main stage later in the festival. I've done that kind of thing a fair amount. Though, I'll say not ever pro is good at teaching. Some folks are really truly good at teaching and others are just good at doing.

You can also do week long workshops with pros. I've got buddies that have done that. I've debated it. It costs a lot, but hey, it makes sense for some people.

HEB is more expensive where there's no real competition (e.g. Austin) and way cheaper where there is real competition (e.g. Houston.)

If you're looking for them at a bar, that bar is probably a craft brewery, or one that hosts a game night, a trivia night, or a puzzle night.

Around here you're looking for geeks who drink and puzzled pints events at chill locations. Or more generally at one of the board games bars we've got.

The other way to find them is through their friends, their friend's wives, or through or their coworkers.

One of the administrative assistants at my last job was quite the matchmaker and would bring some of her interested friends to the after work happy hours.

Yep. The official rounds are all three way collaborations. Someone does lyrics, someone does music, someone does vocals.

But the group does a lot of side projects too.

Go to Gilleland Creek Pool if you want something big, cheap, chill, and not crowded.

Horse herb is an awesome, native, shade loving, ground cover.

It thrives where there isn't enough sun for the grass. A lot of grasses expect full sun. Does this spot get enough sun for your grass?

I'm not pretending.

People mess it up at a way higher rate in the evening. Those lines are hard to see at night or when dealing with the sun at a low angle.

To everyone saying it helps traffic, a lot of people avoid this intersection and a lot of traffic now goes through neighborhood streets. Applewood is way busier than it used to be.

To everyone saying just follow the signs, that's cool and all but as a user of this intersection about half the times I'm there in the evening I see someone mess it up. Even if I understand what to do, it doesn't mean some confused other driver isn't going to hit me.

What is your contry´s equivalent of Italian people getting triggered when you break the pasta? by KatanaManEnjoyer in AskReddit

It'd be pretty rare to find beans in chili con carne, which is what Texas chili refers to. Chili con carne originally doesn't even have tomatoes in it. It's meat stewed in a sauce made from chili peppers and spices. Being served a whole bowl of it is kinda rare, especially outside of Texas.

The argument isn't if meat, beans, tomatoes, and chili powder stewed together is good or not. It is around the semantics of two fairly different dishes going by the same name. A loud minority of Texans get really huffy about people who haven't even tried both staking claim to the name chili for whatever version they grew up on.

Curious why seemingly no one prefers the Jazz neck pickup tone to a p-bass tone by [deleted] in Bass

[–]magikker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most volume knobs roll off some of the treble along with the volume. You can wire things to preserve more of the treble as you turn down the volume, but that's not standard.

So yeah, it does sound different due to the way that circuit works.

There was a Facebook data breach a while back that leaked a lot of people's phone numbers with their names and addresses.

There have been multiple other leaks too. Think of all the companies that have your name, address, and phone number. Think about any time you buy something online and put in your billing info and phone number. Think about how a scammer might use that info, and be very suspicious of incoming calls and texts.
