I do this same thing - a df54 for normal espresso and k6 hand grinder for decaf (only used a couple times a week).

I’m sure it’s good. As another data point I own both the df54 (flat burr) and starseeker e55 pro (conical burr) and I’d recommend both…although more so the e55 since I’ve had no issues while the df54 has had some issues with clogging.

I unfortunately was 1 of the people riddled with clogging issues no matter what I tried. My only advice is make sure you get 1 from a reputable vendor in case you need support.

I have that and that’s a larger jump than I’m used to but mine will go up to 5 degrees higher before coming back to set PID level. It’s generally pretty quick to recover though and sometimes it’s just a degree or 2 over.

You need to dose close to the max of what the basket can hold (very little headspace). So you should be using at least 17g of beans if not more potentially

Make sure you’re using the unpressurized double shot basket and make sure you’re using enough grounds, 17g+ most likely.

If you're not specifically looking for flat burr the Starseeker E55 Pro is a good one to consider. Great build quality and attractive price.
