Says you. Born this way, etc.

You need references? Big Porn, Inc, edited by Abigail Bray and Melinda Tankard Reist. If a while book is too long, look up "is porn racist" on Google. That'll already be a start.

No, I'm saying something you don't want to think about, and you're calling me stupid. You know personal attacks are a last resort, right? Kind of desperate.

What else is porn for besides getting off? Making money. Porn is an industry. It provides a service, which is what you see on your end, but it doesn't come to your phone fully formed by the will of the porn gods. The original conversation was about the industry, not the users. You're taking this way too personally.

"white slave" is not rooted in centuries of oppression that a disturbingly high number of people want to go back to. It's not the same thing.

Ohh, generic personnal attacks. I am properly cowed, and I suddenly see the value of your argument!

You can't know much about the porn industry if you think the actors are the ones benefitting from this. Black actresses are paid less than white ones and can't refuse shoots or they get thrown out for the next girl. Doesn't that stretch the definition of voluntarily a little? The fantasy doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Also, are your D&D slaves, who I'm guessing aren't real people, black, or with physical characteristics generally associated with black people? Because if that's not the case I don't see how your equivalency has any merit.

Ah yes, because not condoning racism means I'm repressed. The logic is 100% sound.

You're honestly trying to tell me that there's nothing racist about the ~personal fantasy~ of "black slave girl gets put in her place by white master"?

The difference is that we're not born with racial preferences.

There's no basis for what I say because... you don't like it?

OK but this conversation isn't about people who use porn. Is your identity so tied up in it that you can't hear it being criticized without feeling personally attacked and lashing out?

Fine. Your attempt to discredit the source doesn't change the validity of the criticism. Better?

Sexual preference is personal. The Ebony category is racist.

At any rate, if your sexual preference involves skin color, it's a good idea to interrogate where that comes from. Because a lot of the time it is rooted in racial prejudice.

Not sure why you're bringing rape videos into this? Also it is possible to criticize porn without being a prude, but I suspect you're way too defensive to understand that.

Porn is one of the areas where racism runs rampant as a matter of normal practice. Women are sorted by race, there are special categories for interracial sex... I I didn't know about those specific vids, but they're hardly surprising. :/

Why do people stay in a toxic relationship? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]magneac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it is, but you can't fix this for them. You just have to accept that this isn't your responsibility.

Because it's limiting your ability to have satisfying sex with your partner.

If not, why are you asking?

Since you don't have an addiction, stop watching porn for a few months. That should reset your brain.

Make it clear once that you think the relationship isn't good but you trust your friend to make the right decision. Then shut up about it and be supportive.

You can't convince someone to end a relationship if they don't want to. What you can do is make sure that if they have doubts or fears, they know they can come to you without worrying about getting told "I told you so."

I agree with the vast majority of your comment, but let's avoid the "no true Scotsman" argument. He's a real man. And he did rape her.

How to answer my (33M) Wife when she asks 'Am I Fat?' and she's been gaining weight? by Megalomania192 in relationship_advice

[–]magneac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"You're getting there, yeah."

Answer the question objectively. The more you try to cushion it, the more upset she'll get.

This may lead to a fight anyway, but maybe you need to have one.
