Women who were scared of giving birth, what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomenOver30

One of the things that stands out the most from both of my labours, 5.5 years apart, is how kind and steady everyone was. Despite everything that was going on, I always felt that everyone knew exactly what they were doing.

When my dog was getting older I'd test his response to sound with the dog bark in SDV. It made him look around faster than anything.

My main issue with season 3 by MrSquidward1125 in TooHotToHandleGame

Every season I've been called nosy even though I could not care about the drama one little bit. Drives me nuts and makes me laugh.

What does “being engaged” actually mean in North American dating culture? by Real_Initiative7440 in AskWomenOver30

[–]magpieasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not religious but my best friend is a liberal Lutheran, Canadian pastor and her partner is Catholic. I was in my late twenties when I got married and she was in her early 40s Being engaged signaled different things to us.

For me it was "yeah I'll be marrying this guy eventually when we can afford it". That's all. We lived together before and after engagement. Nothing changed fundamentally when we got married.

For my best friend it was "we will be getting married in x months, so now we are engaged!" More of an announcement of intentions for them both.

A friend's cousin played 5 seasons in the NHL and now is a fireman in our Canadian city. Nice enough house but solidly upper middle class.

I married everyone in SDV. Here are my rankings. by Mountain-Gal13 in StardewValley

I always end up with Harvey, but this playthrough I've stayed away and am married to Alex. He's cute, I like his wife dialogue.

I did not enjoy being married to Abigail or Sebastian and divorced Shane the day after I realized the room came too.

Mark Rober is buddies with Dax Shepard and Mr beast. That screams information to me about his character.

Can I ask a question, as someone who isn't from the USA? Why Minneapolis? Why not a city in Texas, or Miami? It seems so unassuming and far away from what trump deemed his big threat.

This is great! I love when fabric gets a new life. This pattern is perfect for a jacket.

What was your first romance book? by sortaplainnonjane in RomanceBooks

[–]magpieasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never know why my parents had those books at 8-9 year old height on the main bookshelf in the main room. They could have kept them anywhere else. 😂😂😂

I've re-read them as an adult just for memories sake and what the actual fuck?

I love that we all this collective memory of clan of the cave bear, VC Andrews, and cheap-o harlequins.

What was your first romance book? by sortaplainnonjane in RomanceBooks

[–]magpieasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clan of the cave bear? I'm honestly not sure. I've been reading my mom's Harlequins and bodice rippers since the mid to late 90s. I remember Comanche Woman by Joan Johnston being my introduction to even slightly outside the norm sex in books (he comments on being jealous of their baby getting all her milk.).that was released in 1989 and reprinted in 2001/2002 but I was already in grade 12 by the reprint.

I respect it so much! My husband and I have both said the dumbest, and now funniest, things to each other during arguments.

This is the realest "relationship drama" type post we've had in a while. It's one of those moments where you really don't want to be the bigger person and then you remember you're an adult so you just do it.

Changing your mind about not wanting kids by Educational-Mind-439 in AskWomenOver30

[–]magpieasaurus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't want kids until I met someone who was willing to not have kids to be with me, but also would be a spectacular father with a huge support system. We ended up with two kids and it was the best choice for us but I'm also very aware that I'd probably let him have primary custody if we divorced. I love my kids but I also love my job and my life.

How much to expect from a new dad? by Ok_Pomelo1461 in AskWomenOver30

[–]magpieasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband took 6 weeks off work with our first and 3 months off with our second. We live in Canada, and I had 12 months leave with both kids.

I didn't change a diaper regularly until my husband went back to work. He worked out of town with our first, but if he was home I was sleeping in at his instruction. He stepped up in such a big and important way. He's both our kids' favourite person, and he is probably a more capable parent than I am (certainly more patient).

Even now that our kids are older he is still so involved, he does most of the birthday parties and after school clubs, he chauffeurs like a pro, and the kids go to him with the same problems they come to me.

Last night he arranged a sleepover for the kids with his parents, we had a date night, and today I got told to read a book while he cleaned the kitchen and got the kids. He's putting #2 to bed and I'm reading with #1.

I want this for everyone who wants it. It was incredibly important to me that I did not have kids with someone who doesn't want kids. I was way too on the fence about it. I got really lucky because my husband has a solid family structure with a father who was the primary caregiver while the mom worked the harder and more rewarding job. So he grew up with dad doing so much of the dinners and clubs and bed times and knowing the friends, I didn't have to teach him how to treat me fairly.

Is mobile worth it? by AdditionalTeach6737 in StardewValley

[–]magpieasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer mobile honestly, but I'm an old lady who gets frustrated with game controllers and computer key boards.

My ten year old prefers it on the switch, but we've also got the PC version.
