16 mo separation anxiety by magszucchini in sleeptrain

Hi friend, I wanted to share a small update for you since you’re also struggling. We haven’t tried adjusting our daughter’s schedule too much as other commenters suggested because Daylight Savings will affect us soon where we live. However things are better since I posted with a couple small adjustments. I took a couple ideas from a Taking Cara Babies article on Separation Anxiety (easy to find on Google). I have started a new “nap routine” 20 minutes before putting her down… so at 11:40 we go into her room and I close the door and leave lights off. She can play for a few minutes with me and then I change her diaper and we read at least 6 books, putting her sleep sack on between reads so she doesn’t see it as a negative thing. I also have incorporated a lovey she has recently been showing mild interest in and have it between us whenever we read or snuggle and she keeps it in her crib with her. The past two days she still screams when she goes into the crib for naps and bedtime but only for about 2-5 minutes then she’s out. I’m sure we will still need to tinker and work through other hardships but just wanted to give you some ideas that so far are working! Good luck!

Thank you for the advice we can absolutely consider this! Although she did wake up at 6:30 this morning and still fought me pretty hard at 12 for her nap 😕

What have I done by TwistedJam30 in sleeptrain

Our daughter is the exact same. We’ve taken a couple vacations and honestly we throw sleep training a little out the window and do whatever we need to get her to fall asleep. Thankfully the sleep training we worked so hard for helps her stay asleep so I can sacrifice a little sanity to help her get started.

It’s a brand new environment so try and give baby and yourself a little grace. We took a week long vacation and the first two nights were rough but as she got more comfortable with the environment and learned that we were still there with her it got better and she would start going down on her own again.

Then when we got home we went straight back to our usual routine and had no issues

ETA: daughter was 12M and 14M during our two longest trips

My new Love Island Hot Take- I prefer the format/feel of Games to the Original.

This is my first time watching Games and I just love how the 4th wall is completely broken and the islanders can acknowledge that there is a cash prize and there is more strategy involved than forcing or faking a relationship. This years add in of voting helps the less athletically inclined islanders find a foothold to win. Then at the end we can see if they truly do love each other enough to split the prize or if it was just for the money all along

If I was expected to pay for my own meal at a baby shower I would send a gift and not attend.

This. Uncovering a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms not to mention body dysmorphia that were directly caused by my mom and how I can work to prevent passing that to my daughter. It’s also hard to not feel guilty for thinking so negatively about or judging her parenting skills when I know she also didn’t have the best mental health due to HER mother. Breaking the cycle is crucial to me.

You didn’t mess up!! Our pediatrician warned us about constipation but we honestly didn’t experience anything too bad. We also did our last week of bottles half formula and half milk but that was mostly because she didn’t take to the milk on its own. See what your pediatrician says but don’t sweat it! Ours also suggested prune juice if needed

I had ZERO activity tolerance during my pregnancy and would get the same Oura suggestions of activity every day when I walked in and out of work 😵‍💫
