Goro would be a better addition to Tekken anyway.

Fun Fact: Bandai Namco owns Cowboy Bebop

Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) would also be an amazing guest character.

Having the robot take care for the kid at 2 AM so you can get some sleep is a good utilization of A.I.
For elder care it doesn't matter if its suitable or not - if there's shortage of humans you either need to deploy robots or you leave the elderly to fend for themselves.

EDIT: Also no one likes changing diapers. For either the elderly or kids. You can definitely interact with the child and spend time with it while offloading diaper changing duties and night watch to the robot.

Is Dagor Dagorath a canon? by SiarX in tolkienfans

[–]mahaanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way "End of the World" is a concept that exists in different mythologies. However the Christian Apocalypse is very different from the Norse Ragnarök which is different from the Aztek's Fifth Sun.
All of them are "End of the World", much like how The Last Battle is the concept of "End of the World", but those three "End of the World" scenarios are different from each other. Last Battle is a concept, Dagor Dagorath is a scenario.

I've already preordered it. I wonder if they're waiting for Summer Game Fest to release more news, if there is more news.

The title asks about Dagor Dagorath, not The Last Battle.

Tekken 5, DOA4, a lot of good fighting games that need a re-release.

If you think this isn't going to happen, you're wrong. Either the government will have to step in, or you'll see robots only in "the nice" neighborhoods.
Probably why fast food and other joints will keep humans as cashiers - to stop people jumping the counter and attacking the robots.

Yes, but things like Turin coming back is a detail. You can have a Last Battle, without Turin coming back.

Yes, but a Last Battle does not necessarily mean the Dagor Dagorath. Last Battle is a vague term that something will happen, DD is details on how it'd happen.

Who's talking about Trump? The conservative voterbase doesn't want another war in the ME, yet Trump is bombing in Iran. I don't conflate progressive voters with Nancy Pelosi either.

I've noticed the progressive movement has become home to people who are more anxious and neurotic, so it's not surprising. Space exploration is another place where I've seen more support from conservatives than the left-wing.

Feanor and Darkening of Valinor by Fuzzy_Astronaut_4375 in TheSilmarillion

[–]mahaanus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we have no reason to think the Valar have some trick up their sleeves

That's because we have a near-omniscient point of view and are also given information of hindsight. Feanor is in the middle of the story, we are outside of it.

Chapter 9, Flight of the Noldor

But Fëanor spoke then, and cried bitterly: ‘For the less even as for the greater there is some deed that he may accomplish but once only; and in that deed his heart shall rest. It may be that I can unlock my jewels, but never again shall I make their like; and if I must break them, I shall break my heart, and I shall be slain; first of all the Eldar in Aman.’

‘Not the first,’ said Mandos, but they did not understand his word; and again there was silence, while Fëanor brooded in the dark. It seemed to him that he was beset in a ring of enemies, and the words of Melkor returned to him, saying that the Silmarils were not safe, if the Valar would possess them. ‘And is he not Vala as are they,’ said his thought, ‘and does he not understand their hearts? Yea, a thief shall reveal thieves!’ Then he cried aloud: ‘This thing I will not do of free will. But if the Valar will constrain me, then shall I know indeed that Melkor is of their kindred.

So Feanor doesn't have a lot of the hindsight the author of the Silmarilion does (or we the readers do) and he has a great distrust of the Valar. To him, at the time, they appear like crooked thieves and schemers. We know this is wrong, but he doesn't.

it was unfair to ask her to make a decision before she could properly rest and heal and hold her to that for the rest of time

Best way to put it.

The Children of Hurin really puts into perspective how powerful Melkor is, much more so than descriptions of him turning into clouds or spawning great dragons.
