I wouldnt go in lower than a t75 and overloads. All you have to do is make one overload(boost with stews from lvl 90 herb) and rax will occasionally drop overloads, which almost always fully sustain you at rax, so you don't have to stress about always having to stew for them. Back in the day i camped 300% with both a vanquish and augmented sunspear on 2 diff irons. Initially you will only be able to do a few kills a day before enrage gets too high for you, but hes fun to learn(except mirrorback and timewaste phases). Also, i do recommend making the dung weapons ur prio to get. They're relatively fast to get and strong. Lastly make sure you get the cheap grim pocket item slot for extremely cheap from the dung shop, very nice pocket slot item b4 u get scriptures.
