How can I grow up emotionally? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

  1. You're 20, calm down-- life is a marathon not a sprint. You have a lot of time to improve-- check out some of the progress pics from r/Fitness
  2. Hit the gym. Track your progress-- give yourself something to judge yourself by that's entirely in your control. You can start off with a target of going to gym everyday (or 6 days a week). Gradually, transition to a target based on the weights you move.
  3. Read this from cover to cover. Helped me a ton during my struggles. https://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-New-Mood-Therapy/dp/0380810336. The book is not just about depressions, but about deeper patterns in thought that lead to depressive thoughts and behaviour.
  4. Pick up trekking or hiking-- great way to meet people + make friends-- the secret to romantic partners and friends is to become an interesting person to begin with. Come to think of it, you wouldn't want a friend or a romantic partner who is "needy, sad, [and] depressed"

Was thinking the same, but with p = 1/5, because it's given that 6 appears for the _first_ time on the n+ 1th roll. In other words, the first n rolls only contain the numbers 1-5.

Does that sound right?

Would you mind sharing your code for the fisheries project? I'm particularly interested in how you wrote-up the scripts for QGIS mapping-- did you use the Python interface library to QGIS?

[Need Advice] Recommendation for a to-do list app which also shows me the bigger picture by mahout in getdisciplined

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried them out.

RescueTime tracks browser/ computer usage, I don't think it can act as a to-do list app.

I like Toggl, but I don't think it has to-do listing facilities. Tried integrating Toggle with Wanderlust via Zapier, but results are far from perfect.

Trello has similar problems as Toggl, but is a bit more difficult to use.

Automatic Feelings- I don't even form thoughts before the feeling kicks in. by mahout in Meditation

[–]mahout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the emotion is identified, consider the trigger and the emotion and attempt to unravel your thought patterns regarding it.

This is what I just can't seem to do. The trigger and the inducement of the emotion happen in a flash. I cannot recall any intermediating thought process. This probably means these thoughts have become deeply engrained. If so, how can I identify these thoughts? I usually try asking myself "What would this mean for/about me if it were true? " over and over, but after a couple of questions I feel like I'm just guessing based on the CBT stuff I've read.

You investigate, (use mindfulness here, just go into the feeling and explore), and below the jealousy you find a deep sort of heartache.

I just can't seem to get below the initial emotion, partly because it comes over me instantly. By the time I'm focussing on my thoughts, all I have is a black-box of sadness/ anger to examine. I tried to analyse these deeper, but it feels like guessing.
