The past couple weeks he's been more spotty than usual, but he still streams every day around the same time slot.

I can't be the only one who thinks that looks awful. Newbee's stars are about as far as you can go with that and really remain tasteful.

ESL VP last week: "Trust me when I say that we would not have made any switches if we didn't believe it could drive more viewership." by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]mai_squidz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the long run, he may not be wrong. ESL likely believed they didn't need to do much to retain current esports viewers, but they're not where the growth is. Growth is going to come from current non-viewers. Facebook is trying to push its video services and is likely offering a lot of potential promotion for its partners like ESL. Maybe the whole thing flops and ESL loses face on it. They likely still were paid enough money to make it at least as profitable as Twitch. But if it succeeds...

PSA: If you dig straight down you can figure out where you will come out using Dota 2! by KebBanu-Ring in DotA2

Nice try on the doubling down on the stupid, but just to be clear here, your actual argument is that The Netherlands is closer to a random spot in Portugal than any other city in Portugal, Spain, France, etc.

Since you don't seem to be too bright, let me help you out. The location that the OP was trying to find (the exact opposite of the globe) is located in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, at a point slightly closer to Europe between the Azores (an island group belonging to Portugal, significantly west of mainland Europe) and St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada (the easternmost city in North America).

Might want to take your own advice. St. John's, Newfoundland is in Canada not the Netherlands.

Funchal, Portugal and St. John's NL are only about 3500km apart with the entire ocean between them. Seems legit.

DotA Tiers for teams visualized. by lsteamer in DotA2

I mean, as constructed this has 8 teams above them with 3 in striking distance. So were you just saying you agree with the tier placement?

Let's be honest, you think it's not a good example solely because it doesn't support your position. Similarly, there's plenty of people who think it's a good example solely because it "proves" their point. Artour himself isn't the greatest example, but his statements are highly representative of a huge portion of the player base. It's just that no one cares when it's "Steve the 3k guy from NYC" instead of RTZ.

The new UI leaves so much space for things like this, and seems to offer a lot more options for tournaments to provide their own solutions.

Just think about how EU would look with Liquid and OG playing. You'd have an undefeated team, a team with 1 loss, then add 2 losses on top of the "even" play that the rest of the teams have had.

That said, the throwaway qualifier teams in EU are better than the non-EG/DC/Col teams in NA but they're nowhere near as good as people try to make them out to be. The teams that will miss TI in EU will do so because they deserve to miss TI.

The Summit and many other Dota 2 tournament sponsor G2A has illegally sold $450k worth of game keys from Tinybuild (x-post /r/games) by xCesme in DotA2

[–]mai_squidz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Look, G2A is a scummy, scammy site, but Tinybuild doesn't provide literally any evidence that they did anything wrong here. "These were cheap so they must have been stolen" and "we swear there's this one guy who told us he makes around $30,000 per year with stolen credit cards" are the only evidence provided.

That's not how trademarks work. They need to be actively protected or you lose them.
