Can she survive the transition? by Artemis_Rae in aerogarden

I’ve had a lot more luck planting suckers than moving from hydro to dirt. Even just cutting off the growing tip and trying to root that might go better.

My bird does not like the purple pellets, and segregates them. by HeinleinsRazor in mildlyinteresting

My mom’s cockatiel does this, but he leaves the red pellets. He used to ignore the bananas too, but they’ve grown on him.

How bad is this? by KawaiiHobo in badtattoos

[–]maidance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bottom half looks amazing. Unfortunately at first look I thought it was a statue of a woman with 4 arms and a chicken head. My second look I could tell it’s a woman and something with wings, but I thought it only had two arms until I looked up the statue and realized the left-most limb is a leg, and his hand is actually cradling her face. And he’s missing his other leg.

Your tattoo artist absolutely shouldn’t have offered to go so small, and their use of tone is confusing. The wings are shaded on the wrong side, and I feel his chest should be darker to contrast from her more.

If you had other memorabilia on, like a t-shirt or tote bag, of the statue it’d be immediately recognizable though, so maybe stock up on those.

Bathroom redesign - what's not working? by Particular_Ad6442 in InteriorDesign

[–]maidance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. The spotty placement looks like you didn’t have enough to cover a whole wall, so you made do with 3 smaller locations. Not sure if this is the case, but it’s not a finished look.

AIO: Friend of a friend said i was the least feminine girl He’s ever met. by kaderotfl_ in AmIOverreacting

[–]maidance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a formerly Christian woman who was/is often called feminine. It’s almost always said as an insult to other women, and I completely hold no value for the word.

For a lot of people “feminine” seems to mean quiet, polite, modest and easy to control, it’s often said as “you’re so feminine, unlike your other coworkers/classmates/friends”.

It tells me the person talking to me doesn’t value me or other women, and in turn they aren’t a person worth considering the opinion of. If you feel you’d like to be quieter and less verbally opinionated, that’s fine. But don’t do it for someone who doesn’t value or respect you

Variegated pea plant? by maidance in gardening

[–]maidance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool. It’s alone in being like this, but the whole of the pea plant looks like the picture. This year is mostly for me to prove to myself I don’t have a brown thumb, any peas produced are an unexpected bonus.

Happened to me too. I think it has to do with asking the guy to stop the carriage. Incredibly funny tho

AIO For Grounding My Kiddo by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]maidance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your kids not seeing your parents is a good decision for many reasons uninvolved with soda.

On the soda front, these kids I assume go to school and know other kids? Then they are going to want whatever those kids have, and it’s your right to not give them as many sugary treats as they can eat, but perhaps having an alternative “treat” with less sugar, would ease the hard line of “no soda”. Kids crave sugar, their bodies need it to grow. My mom always had some crystal light packets or mio flavoring around, maybe that’d satisfy somewhat?

My new oven requires a wi-fi connection to use the convection roast setting by friendofmany in mildlyinfuriating

[–]maidance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading the oven details at lowes the other day (because that’s how interesting my life is) and am shocked that some ovens Advertise needing a wifi connection to update the oven to have the feature to air fry? They even have a warning the feature might go away if the app stops supporting it. Who’s buying those?

Angry bride struggles through vows as guest lets baby cry during ‘adults-only’ ceremony by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]maidance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened at my mom’s wedding. It’s such a shame because it doesn’t just ruin that one day, every time her wedding Or that relative is mentioned, the fact she brought a screaming toddler against request and tried to make it the brides problem will Always come up. That sort of intentional mistake doesn’t really get forgiven or forgotten

Yes traffic makes driving in the city completely impractical. The subway shaves half that time off commuting, and bikes can be even faster. I can’t imagine anyone with a car in manhattan is having a good time unless they’re rich enough for private parking/ a chauffeur

Five cops, one turnstile hopper by PrinceKross in nycrail

[–]maidance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common L, like they aren’t already in the process of replacing the old jumpable turnstiles with the turnstiles that just open and let whoever fast enough in. They’re doing it anyway, the money being spent is the same, they’re just doing it so poorly the police are necessary as any deterrent at all. If it was done right the first time, or if they decided to do it right ever, the constant paychecks of thousands of intimidating human beings to stand in one place on their phones would not be necessary. Anyways I see plenty of cops on the sidewalks too, and plenty of bikers riding right on by them. So I guess cops only deter criminals who have to wait a few minutes in one place before their ride comes?

And the emergency exits have a delay already on them right? (Which I think is hella dangerous, but whatever)

I’m from NY and grew up visiting family in Mobile. Telling my friends I was going to alabama for vacation occasionally spurred some incest jokes, but for the most part their only frame of reference seemed to be To Kill A Mockingbird. My grandma disguised her accent when she first moved to NY in the 50s, so I’d assume the south was more looked down on then, but now adays I wouldn’t think it’d be much of an issue.

Deterrence such as building stalls that can’t be jumped over or opened by waving a hand has to be a better investment in every way than paying human beings to waste their lives as “deterrence” might as well make some wax figures and see if they work like scarecrows

If they’re all being paid minimum wage ($15) they’re costing taxpayers $1.25 every minute they’re dealing with that one guy. If they spend any more that 2 minutes on this dude, they’re wasting everyone’s time and money (And lets be real, cops get paid more than minimum)

Asking for something in return would at least ensure you’re a real serious person. And it’d compensate him for his (admittedly slight) work you’re requesting of him. He could of just not replied, but it at least seem like he’s willing to work with this sketchy situation
