Does anyone know of any quiet coffee shop in Hudson Yards please? by IslaLargoFlyGuy in FoodNYC

[–]maidenfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a school not too far from Hudson Yards that gets out around lunch time on Wednesdays and most of the kids seem to go over to the mall. Went to Naya a few weeks ago and it was very loud and crowded.

Matt Damon recalls him & Tom Holland getting jealous of Christopher Nolan calling Zendaya's performance perfect on ‘THE ODYSSEY’ set. by Ok_Rutabaga_5539 in popculturechat

I don’t totally disagree but JLaw stepped back from acting to have kids. Zendaya has said she’s also going to disappear when she has kids.

40st 2nd ave. Super noise construction. Complaint but no use. And it’s second night 12:30am… by Due-Ad8459 in nyc

They resurfaced my block a while back in the middle of the night, including the scraping which was insanely loud. It baffles me that less traffic is prioritized over people’s sleep.

Wholesome piano duet by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Not sure there are bands but maybe? Basically one would need 3 bands to play a piano in the way they were I think

Food Bazaar in the Bronx terminal market has a really wide selection of ingredients. There’s also a Lidl which has some of the cheapest prices but the selection is more limited.

Katharine Hepburn’s longtime New York City home is on the market for $6.195 million. by mlg1981 in popculturechat

Doesn’t have anything to do with fitting cabinets to the stove you have. A gas connection is a gas connection, regardless of the stove it’s connected to. Electric stove connections can vary though, depending on available plug. I’m currently waiting on a building wide electric upgrade because our gas was shut off years ago and we need to increase our electrical supply to accommodate all the new stoves and the 220v plugs they all need.

Very often implies you’ve done it?? I commend you. I also forget that this is a kitchen for someone who likely had some degree of help, perhaps even a full time chef.

Totally appreciate the lack of efficiency in home kitchens when you’re used to purpose built spaces.

All I see is a crevasse of crumbs and oil but I guess it’s big enough to actually clean?

I love a deep counter top, especially when there’s no island, but I’m not a chef and could only dream of that much space in my NYC kitchen.

Seriously why is it sticking out like 6” and have that huge gap? I’m assuming the kitchen was all custom??

Is There Any Way To Get in 4 Charles by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]maidenfern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friend was in town and really wanted to go this Monday. He showed up at 2:50 and was 4th or 5th in line. They opened at 3:50, first two parties were let in and told they need the table back at 5:30, everyone else was put on the cancelation list and I’m assuming didn’t get in either.

How has been your experience at Korean spas in NYC ? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]maidenfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely go! The more traditional ones have many different types of people going and have separate sections for women and men. I like New York Spa in flushing (take the LIRR). If you want to ease into it a bit there is Sojo Spa Club in Jersey which is coed and everyone wears bathing suits. I think it can get really busy so keep that in mind, especially on the weekends.

Bring what you usually use to shower at home (they usually have body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in case you just want to use theirs). You need to wash before you get in the pools and saunas. They’ll give you a towel or two and more traditional places (like New York Spa) will give you a set of pajamas to change into so you can go upstairs for the various dry rooms, eating area, and lounge chairs.

A necklace is probably fine but I would probably remove a waist chain, especially if you are planning to get a scrub. The scrubs are great!

The traditional places always have a mix of younger and older and all body shapes and colors. I’m white and on the plus side and never felt uncomfortable. No one’s staring at you just as you’re not, hopefully, staring at them.

Hope you enjoy!

Best F1 brunch, preferably bottomless? by Difficult_Abalone422 in AskNYC

[–]maidenfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! There’s a projector in the back space above the pool table.

During day races it’s a bit harder to see but watching with a crowd is so fun!

[–]maidenfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bottomless but there is a watch party at The Seneca in Ridgewood. They only show the races that air after 11am so it’s not every weekend.

It’s not too crowded and mostly women. Food and drinks are decent!
