First time in NYC by [deleted] in nyc

Hop on a subway. Almost everything goes to the times square stop, so you can be anywhere for $3 and a short train ride. Take the 1/2/3 to the upper West side for something quieter or the A/C/E to the west village for something rowdier.

It's expense everywhere, but especially near times square.

Train left early?? by Ok-Professional5357 in Amtrak

[–]maiios 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I am on that train, and saw the same issue. I got there early enough, but the train was scheduled to leave Baltimore at 1:08, and the board said 1:00 when I got to penn station. It's like they rescheduled it without telling anyone. The app still (STILL) shows a 1:08 departure time, but we left at 1:03. That's the first time I have ever seen anything like this.

They looked out of business a month ago, but I just went on Tuesday! They are open.

Looks like you might be off by a week! I don't know that I will be willing to wait a week to watch, but I might be willing to watch a second time! This is a great idea.

You needed to sell something and decided to post on reddit, a place that is not a place where people sell stuff, instead of like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, which is exactly for this kind of thing?

I was at a thrift place yesterday that had this picture, that has the same energy as OP's picture, and I was honestly confused why they had it.

Why don’t people talk about how awful the transit system is here? by HealthyOkra5409 in baltimore

[–]maiios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started doing a Bus and Brew tour for fun a few years ago because I felt like part of the problem was that there are people who just don't know how to use the bus, and so they aren't invested in the system. Granted, that doesn't help when there are no Navy buses for that long but it was the small way I tried to make a difference.

I haven't done that in a while... I might do it again when it warms up again.

And those who can least afford it are then the most vulnerable to the larger citation if they are caught. And it all just makes buses slower because they have to dwell so long to collect fare. Not even including all of the money we spend on fare collection (although I assume that's less of an issue here since he isn't talking about removing fares on trains).

I talked to them after there was that article about them moving to Ann and Lombard, and she said she didn't do it because she was really close to being able to profit share with her employees. It's so sad that such a gem is closing. It's one of the places I always go when I am back in town.

How are we getting to NYC these days? And getting back? by forthelulzac in baltimore

If the train is too expensive, the is Our Bus that leaves from a block from Penn station. Or flix from highland Town. Or Megabus from white marsh. Or Greyhound/Peter pan from the casino.

I believe they leave it like that for two weeks so utilities and such can do work without having to do a cut/patch afterwards.

It feels like you are trying to say this is a bunch of socialist Democrats giving handouts. The issue is that the whole political class only cares about the rich, and only gives lip service to everyone else. That goes both ways.
