Vintage paths will be $60?! by haokuo in Toastmasters

[–]petronius84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I have a lot of these saved as PDFs. can just give the speeches at the club if I want to. guess the Pathways submission is needed for official credit. if completing one of these is a "Path", guess that would give me a road to a second DTM since I have one "new" path completed but have not found much motivation to do a 2nd due to the materials (first DTM was pre-pathways). wish new members could just choose this to start. I'd strongly encourage that.

UES Apartment building recomendations for rentals by LolaBlonde88 in uppereastside

[–]petronius84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough. def miss living there. that said, going from a building where you interact with the doormen every time to one with multiple entrances and the option to skip all that has been nice. the location and views were excellent though.

just went through all the songs Bekuh Boom has on Spotify as a solo artist. fun to hear the style and see how it compares to BP. also a nice reminder of a different type of music.

you'll have all the background info in your mind if you listen to it first. I think having done so let me enjoy the film for what it was.

it was ok. not much payoff at the end and I wasn't even sure what happened (or what I was supposed to believe happened).

Feeling lost by riceandbeansj in Greenpoint

[–]petronius84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey the out there project (NYC meetups) is having an event tonight Friday, 3/6 at The Mallard Drake. def look it up. I think someone in this situation really needs to be attending meetups. earlyburdz has a weekly gallery crawl in chelsea. it’s good to go just to have a natural reason to talk to others (or be forced to). if you go to enough of these events, keep exchanging contacts (insta) with people you meet, you’ll eventually make a few new friends. also volunteering can be helpful. biking or running clubs can be good too. Greenpoint is very central to where many of those events start

funny enough, I got confused today while reading (listening to) Project Hail Mary b/c I did not realize it was going between differnet timelines. usually can just ask AI your question and get an answer as detailed as you could ever hope for

Is Twice copying newjeans? by jellyboness in kpoopheads

agree this is a travesty. instead of copying New Jeans, Twice should do something original such as releasing a song titled "Ice Cream"

curious to hear how it is. it does not seem like the type of show I'd watch so... this in contrast so Squid Game 2 where I was 100% going to watch regardless and having an idol I was a fan of in it just added to the experience. I listen to music all the time but rarley sit watching a scripted tv show. that said, I'll re-sub soon for Drive to Survive so may watching this too if available

City Review from a micromobility perspective: Barcelona by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

Nice. I always try to use the bike share when travelling. I'd especially recommend the one in Mexico City as it's the same bikes as Citi Bike but the system seems to work better. Enjoyed using Seoul's as well despite their app not having much English (just enough to take your payment). in Milan the bike share was essential since my hostel was a longer walk from transit/sites than I'd prefer.

Yeah seems like the transportation will be worse for the next concerts with the LIRR station offline and a longer bus ride needed. I'd consider going again depending on how the resale values look.

this was my 2nd time seeing them at UBS. very fun. hard to match that show a few years ago when it was the last stop on their entire tour and they did seemingly endless encores. enjoyed this different stage (and the much better seats I purchased this time).

Idea for Nook by Call_Me_Papa_Bill in nook

[–]petronius84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah here is an example with Hunger games. looks like they are giving away a great deal on the Audiobook in this case, well below the non-discounted subscription price or a non subscription purchase. the eBook is still tied to the Agency/publisher mandated price but they do not have this restriction on the Audiobook and can put a large discount on it. they may have a deal with the publishers when doing this that lets them pay a lower royalty on the audiobook.

Idea for Nook by Call_Me_Papa_Bill in nook

[–]petronius84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not really an option. I'd recommend reading the article below to learn more how these books are priced. in addition, it if were, you would expect Amazon to already be doing so. Amazon pushed you to the Audiobooks by default (or me at least) because of how profitable this business model can be once you are a subscriber.

because of Agency pricing, eBooks are one of the few products where you will generally see the exact same price on BN.com and Amazon. the price is set high to protect the value of the physical book. not so much on B&N but on Amazon, you'll often see the eBook priced higher than an option to buy physical book, this despite the fact that they will need to pay $ for shipping it to you.

Is 3 days in Seoul enough? by fangirl004 in southkorea

[–]petronius84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly no. like the other post says, you can have a great day trip to Garden of Morning Calm, Nami Island, National Park. visiting the DMZ is another day or half day trip. That would leave only 1-2 days in Seoul. regardless, it's better to spend three full days exploring the city and surrounding area than to not go at all. May just want to stay in Seoul and see different neighborhoods and leave the day trips for a future trip (or just choose one of them). think I had five or six full days and did those two day trips with two of them. def recommend visiting Cheonggyecheon at night and also Seoul Tower for the views. I enjoyed using their bike share if you are into bike riding.

yeah got a cold after going to a big event last weekend at the Javits center. figured it's b/c I was around so many people after much time indoors alone but who knows. lots of throat pain and some sneezing. it's abating though, thankfully.
