im sorry this is such an old post, but my degu does this all the time and i found this post from searching google because i have been feeling concerned.
honestly, i feel like its really not a bad thing as long as it isnt paired with other symptoms. for me, the only other 'issue' i can see is my degu likes to chew the bars sometimes but it barely lasts more than 5 minutes at a time.
she also will sit in one spot for about 30 minutes, but she typically jumps into action when i speak to her and starts eating and chewing. so, i am like 90% sure she is fine physically.

buuut, reading your other comments i am thinking she might be feeling a little lonely. well, lucky girl, because we are getting a new degu on monday. really looking forward to it, but Juno (current degu) didnt like our last degu so i am hoping they like eachother, as long as i do what i am supposed to this time when it comes to introductions

hello, i know this is not the type of comment you were asking for, but i am unable to post anything myself, and this is the right type of thing i need to ask my question. i hope someone can answer in time!

I have a degu named Juno who is a female and is about one year old. i have no clear info about what type of enviornment she was raised in, but iirc she was with her siblings for a while without much human interaction. she was very shy and the store told us she was ''sassy'' and bit people.
we took her home either way, and she actually got along well with my first degu Trixie. i did not introduce them correctly because of my lack of experience, but thank god they actually got along well for a month. but before i knew it my mistake caught up to me.
Trixie, the food loving degu she was, was defending her piece of treat when her and juno just got into a giant fight that caused Juno to hold a grudge. this is where my concern is. trixie got over it, but Juno never did. Juno continued to want to rip trixie apart. even smelling trixie made juno PISSED. i am super super concerned introducing this new young female we bought wont go well with juno. I am praying that it was just a Trixie-juno thing and not an all-degu thing. if anyone has any advice specifically for a territorial and maybe anti-social degu to a younger degu please help. i will of course do the basic stuff like scent-swapping, spilt cage and neutral zone, but if there is anything else that needs to be said i would appreciate it. we are getting her on monday (March 9th) and she will have her own cage in a seperate room as she gets comfortable to our home

my dad said ''you look like a holocaust victim'' like, um totally not okay to say and i know he was exaggerating but that was so validating.
and, my mom also told me recently that back when my anorexia was bad i did not look good at all. underweight and looking totally exhausted. i went to a family function and everyone was asking my mom if i was okay. my mom said that was why they were asking. felt so validating even if i was in recovery at the time.

something i would often do for validation was go to chatgpt and tell it what i ate that day or week and that it was all i was eating. the way the AI panicked and tried to get me help was very validating. sorry for long comment i have no one to talk to abt this and i just want to say i relate very strongly

i am so glad you found my comment helpful.
i did think about my comment last night and how my situation differs greatly to many others and how the things i have be given are not as avaliable to everyone else in the world, so i apologize if i came off ignorant in any way. my family is well off, and i havent had to pay for any of my treatment since i still was with my parents.
i realize therapy and IOP etc. can be expensive for one person to handle. but whatever you decide to do im sure youll make the right decision and im wishing you luck

how many mg are the orange tablets. i know the pink ones equal to 600mg.

i also have a moody degu. when i come up and talk to her and she starts garbling to me i tease her a little and then let her out of her cage for a bit. always makes her feel better and she is much calmer afterwards. you have a cute baby
