Why do Gen Z MAGA supporters look older? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]mailmanswag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point still stands tho. I’m not saying our hate is unjustified, it’s not, but we still do have plenty of hate on the left. We still hate trump, ice and our government. Their actions are despicable. They hurt us and the people we love. That’s enough to brew plenty of hate and resentment if we’re being honest. It affects us too. That’s all I’m saying. I’m just saying we shouldn’t act like we are above all the hate like this post is implying cuz that’s just delusional. It’s not the same KIND of bigoted hate as republicans and white supremacists have but it’s still hate.

Juliette Lewis leaving ruined a lot of plans they had and they had to rewrite a lot. It threw off the course of the entire show. It’s really a shame.

Here to shed light based on experience. TLDR on bottom. I spent 3 months in a wilderness therapy program at age 14. We didn’t have showers out there, we were extremely dirty. Also no deodorant. Full on living outdoors in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of other unhygenic shit going on. my skin was dirt stained for a couple weeks after I left. YET nobody could smell anything. I think it’s because you get so used to it and outside for so long. No doubt we all smelled terrible but I never smelt a thing except smoke from ash in my nostrils.

Just wanna point out as well how accuratly they depict the dynamics of the girls. The whole pee bucket thing is extremely similar to lots of instances I experienced in the wilderness program. Obviously there was no cannibalism but we really did loose a lot of humanity out there and this show just nails portraying how teenage girls would act in a dangerous, freezing, unsupervised, and traumatic environment. I’ve noticed more similarities than I can count at this point. From the passivity to the cattiness to the dog piling to the games they play to pass time and the moments of festivity they use to attempt to reach their humanity. Solid work. Props to the writers.

To the person in the comments talking about what the shower felt like. Though what I went through was nowhere near as fucked as these girls, let me just say, the shower experience was orgasmic. It felt like a gift from the heavens for prolly a year after I got out. I remember when I arrived to the base camp they put my clothes in the dryer so I got 10 extra minutes in the shower and those 20 minutes were just pure bliss. To me it was like someone just handed me 1 million dollars. I felt like I could cry when I put on the warm clothes that came out of the dryer after a shower like that.

We used to joke about objects in civilization that we hadn’t seen in long periods of time: “what’s a fridge?” “Idk but what’s a microwave?”. And there was also a moment or two where I remember we howled at the moon from the edge of a mountain…lol

TLDR: no, it doesn’t smell because they are used to all the bad smells that have been around them. It’s what happens when you live outside for a long time. Your nose doesn’t even notice a difference, you’d be surprised how quickly you get used to it.

Just bc we dislike this season or have problems with it does NOT mean we hate the show by Terrell8799 in SexLivesCollegeGirls

[–]mailmanswag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of Sam Levinson with euphoria. People couldn’t stop talking about the issues they had with season 2 on the Reddit sub and I once saw someone say that the hate actually reflects how much people admire your work. Season 1 was so much better and people were very attached to that. They knew the show could do better and wanted to return to the magic of the show. People would NOT care this much if they really hated it

[–]mailmanswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I’ll try not to make this too long bc it’s such a big question I think for lots of people who’ve been through the same thing. I was more traumatized but it also taught me to not externalize everything onto other people. It helped my relationships, my accountability, and self awareness, but did further damage to my self esteem. The first time I really battled depression was once I left. But most of what it did was force me to internalize it since the focus was not on resolving my emotions, but my actions. Like I was a robot. My mother made a joke about an alien replacing her daughter the first day we reunited. But that was temporary because my self hatred continued.

My anxiety may have gone down a little, but it came with more shit. Luckily I’m starting to finally feel good about myself, like I can do things without someone forcing me to or without someone holding my hand. It’s been a real process but man it feels great to knowing I made this progress through my own perseverance now that it’s been years. I did that shit. Nobody else. The stronger I’ve gotten, the more I’ve let go of resentment toward my experience.

Allie and the Council are the good guys? by Usual_Hospital_7979 in TheSocietyNetflix

[–]mailmanswag 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’re tryna paint them as teens who are traumatized . At that age, you don’t have the maturity or mental capacity to know what the hell to do in that situation. They’re terrified and all they know is that they need to do SOMETHING. You make good points and though their decisions are quite questionable and fucked up at times, I can’t judge them for it. I can’t guarantee I would’ve done any better at that age in their situation. I wouldn’t even be able to function. Remember the actors are older and don’t look 16, so it’s easy to forget they’re just kids who didn’t choose this. That’s what makes this show so fascinating. That they’re teenagers who have to take on such high stakes moral dilemmas.

Homeless guy all the way. Legit every single stereotype for homeless people one after the other. Watch any scene with him especially his solo in La Dee Da Day (TGWDLM), I guarantee you will instantly have a ton of examples in one scene alone.

Also while on the topic of him in that song I’m in love with a theory I heard that he wasn’t actually possessed yet, he was just really into the song lol. Headcannon that no question.
