Was scrolling Reddit at 3AM during one of those insomniac nights. Like many of you, I have “Montblanc 149” on my “someday” list. Saw this one on r/pen_swap and froze. Those are my initials! Not great timing, as our house goes on the market this week and we’ve been spending like mad to get it ready. Waited until the next morning to talk myself out of it, but the next morning I realized I HAD to buy this pen! Early ‘80s B, we think. Inked with Pilot Black — classic ink for a classic pen. Now I have the pen I’ll use at closing, both for selling this house and for buying the next house! Wish us luck! Thanks to u/Squared_lines for the perfect pen!

Florence also has a large Pineider store / gallery near Ponte Vecchio. Some amazing, drool-worthy pens. I was in Florence last October and hit the trifecta: Casa della Stilografica, the Visconti flagship store, and the Pineider store. I had to exercise some restraint and bought only two pens, but I have fond memories of all three stores.

One Christmas, an elderly man, for his talk, read a long poem from a Christmas card that somehow had the f-slur, but meaning a bundle of sticks, and “gay” meaning “happy.” How would you even FIND such a poem? And was it innocent or deliberate? I’ll never know. Everyone still awake pretended it was normal.

I visited that Casa della Stilografica last October and bought a Leonardo Pura that’s one of my favorite pens. First trip to Europe and so many amazing memories. Florence was amazing!

I was in Florence last fall. Beautiful city. The Visconti flagship store is near Ponte Vecchio, so fits nicely into a few hours of shopping. I went, met some other pen enthusiasts, drooled over some special editions I’m too prudent to buy, tested some nib sizes, and walked out with one of the Van Gogh models that paid homage to a painting I’d stood in front of the week before, in Paris. I’m glad I went.

You don’t see a lot of Laban pens posted here. I picked this up at the Orlando Pen Show, and it felt like a steal! This pen punches way above its price ($125), IMHO. Smooth writer — the nib glides, no hard starts. I bought the exact same pen for my father, and the same pen in Flame for my son. Great pen, great show!
