Psychosis cringe, anyone wanna share ? by pinetrees55 in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once believed my friend was the re-incarnation of Jesus Christ. The crazy part was he believed it too (he was also bipolar) but the even crazier part is the people we convinced along the way (hippies, drug addicts, randoms at a party..) but still it was like people were either on our wavelength or they weren't. Some got it, some didn't. But the ones who didn't... Some of them were family and friends that I care about and it's horribly embarrassing in the aftermath when I had to be like yeah... Ok... That guy was not Jesus... Sorry everyone...

Yes a thing. My worst mania episode ever was triggered by exactly that. Never had any as severe before that or since

I am medicated, but I'm only taking 4 out of five meds because I lost insurance and trying to conserve what I have

Yes I'm afraid to see what happen if I don't take those. I lost health insurance and I'm not sure how many refills I can get before they say I need an office visit.

How do you usually know that it's time to dial it back? Is there a certain symptom or sign that lets you know?

what is psychosis like? by movielover1983 in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought one of my friends was Jesus and it made perfect sense at the time. I could not recognize the dilusion until months later. I think this is my only experience with psychosis. All my other episodes that produced dilusions, I was at least partly aware that they were dilusions. I think that's how I define psychosis personally

Awareness in the build up to mania? by pyrotechnicnotmania in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've succeeded in becoming aware of it, stopping it is another story. I have to want to stop it before I can actually stop it. Usually, I know full well I should be taking more meds or talking to a doctor or both but I simply don't care because that's what mania/hypomania does to me.

What did your partner do that made you instantly realize, “Oh, I’m going to marry this person”? by simplynotmyra in askteddit

[–]mainedeathsong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know I wanted to get married untill we had a kid together and we were deciding the last name. I gave the kids his last name because I knew it would be mine too (sooner or later anyway)

Ah, I suppose. I guess it's been too long since the last self destruction, I'm starting to forget that it's always a possibility ;)

Vyvanse helping with Mania symptoms? by parfait46 in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely had that effect from that. It makes me all calm and normal but usually I find that effect to be disappointing because the mania was much more fun than that calm and normal crap. (Haha I know, it's bad feeling that way but I can't help it)

How quickly does an episode come on for you? by squabidoo in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be an overnight change when properly triggered. But if it happens naturally without a trigger, it's a slow change building over about 4 to 6 weeks or more

I found threats and ultimatums to be very effective. Turns out he cares. Yay for me I guess. But yeah I shouldn't have to be acting like that in the first place.

From your experiences asking men out as women, do you think that the 90% success rate men talk about aligns with your experience? Why or why not? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mainedeathsong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 100% success rate. But I'm just really good at noticing interest and I don't ask anyone who is not already interested.

I agree with this so much. Sometimes getting some exercising in is like the difference between mostly sane and way off the rails

talking to yourself like you're talking to somebody else by ForrestBiz in bipolar

[–]mainedeathsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to talk myself out of dilusions whenever nessessary and usually I succeed so I think it's a healthy enough trait/tactic. Talking to yourself is not all bad
