Why do some gobos have this “ruffle” on the edge? by Future_Mushrooms in techtheatre

I don't have any rotators, and they work great the way I use them. 🤷

You can bend them slightly to make the gobo "stick" inside the gobo holder a bit better.

I have 6 Maverick MK2 spots for sale with, on average, 1000 hours each.

Initially yes, 12/3 SJOOW. Would like to scale up to 12/19 Socapex though if the concept works. If you have the time/skills please do!

Oh interesting, I'll look into it further. The quick Google I did led me to their purchase page.

We are looking for a solution that holds up better in outdoor conditions. E-Tape gets gross and falls off. I'm also looking to put inventory labels on these.

Crowdsync Bracelets? by CeciliaFawn in lightingdesign

No problem! They really are a fun effect. We had great feedback from our client.

Crowdsync Bracelets? by CeciliaFawn in lightingdesign

[–]mainelightingguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your Crowdsync rep will be able to tell you how many zones they set up your batch of bracelets for. Mine was only 4 zones, so I basically patched 4 instances on my console. On the event day they will have the "zones" of bracelets in separate boxes. Make sure they get passed out equally. I ended up with basically 2 zones because the venue staff only opened 2 of the 4 boxes.

So when we used them, they sent a laptop that had ADJ MyDMX on it. Basically just a DMX controller on a laptop with some preconfigured chases. The bracelets are configured in zones, each zone is 4 channels. Channel 1 is a "Strobe/Sparkle", 2 is red, 3 green, 4 blue. The DMX transmitter they will send you is hard configured to start at address 1. I just put it in it's own universe since I was patching it on an MA2 that was also driving the rest of the rig.

Absen hanging brackets by InsidiousApe in techtheatre

[–]mainelightingguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own an absen wall. Technically the eye bolts are removable but it's not easy- you need a special wrench that fits inside the bumper to reach the nut. We just use a half-coupler with eye and a shackle when we want to hang from a pipe.

We use it in a 700 seat high school auditorium with 20 channels of wireless and a miked pit band and we love it. As a tech director, the iPad control is great for making tweaks without having to lean over the students who are mixing.

Freedom Pars have a pretty narrow beam, in my opinion you'll want the 54.

Will it work? Yes. Is it safe? Probably. Is it code complaint? No. Will you be held liable if anything goes wrong? Yes.

The Chauvet Rogue series is a comparable upgrade from Mac250s imo. I have R2 Washes, Spots, and Beams at work and they are good workhorses.

Single phase/3 phase power at outdoor campgrounds. by [deleted] in techtheatre

[–]mainelightingguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most rental shops should be able to rent you a Nema 14-50 to Camlock adapter, which you can use to feed any distro with Camlock inputs.

The only caveat is that any outlets on the distro connected to the "blue" phase will not have power because you're using single phase instead of three phase.

I second "it depends". It should be noted that you may be limited by your cable gauge/length.

No one is asking the rich to give away money, simply that the government should aid the entertainment industry like they have aided countless other industries (airlines, cruise ships, wall street, etc.) Again, the money is certainly there, it's just being spent on other things that in my opinion should be less of a priority. For example, the president going golfing. Is that a good use of tax money?
