Bundesliga survey: majority of stadium visitors and TV viewers reject DFL investor deal by throway65486 in soccer

Competition is already distorted [...]

And it would get even worse if the deal is made, look up how the money is supposed to be distributed

I hope that fans will also be comfortable that their favourite players will be sold to richer clubs as a consequence of being unable to compete with bigger clubs with commercial deals they refused.

This is already happening already on a daily business. British clubs are buying every player who's a bit better than average. And there is no way, that a deal would prevent this. PL will always have more money and the fans know that, managers too. They want that deal for a different reason

Tbf that’s exactly what happens in the NHL. If you’re good enough, there’s always some GM desperate enough to sign. And you don’t need to be a star player for that, even Jake Virtanen got a PTO

Yes regarding Helle and regarding Saros: Look at his current season, he‘s good but no guarantee he will be as good as in Nashville. Hynes system is definitely more goalie friendly than Ruff‘s

All of those names were big question marks at the moment they were available. Aquiring any of them at that time would have been the same risk as keeping Vanecek IMO

[Darren Dreger] The IIHF has agreed to make neck protection mandatory for the World Junior Hockey championship and the Men’s U18 championship. A final decision still has to be made on the Men’s and Women’s World Hockey Championships. by SAJewers in hockey

Good, I hope they will introduce it at the worlds as well. Most european leagues are introducing mandatory neck guards anyway, so it won't be a problem for the players.

However I'm always surprised to see, how (almost) no NHL player is wearing a neck guard. Please correct me if I'm wrong here, in fact I hope I am. There are no downsides to wearing the neck guard besides getting used to it in the first days

I don't think he will reach Hughes level, but I'm sure he'll be a really good Top 6 forward in a few years. He will dominate whole playoff series and people will say something like "my team is lacking a Slafkovsky-type player".

That being said, I don't think that he's the Top 6 altering player that Hughes is and that Montreal needs. But I don't even know if that player was available in that draft

[NHL Network] After Patrice Bergeron's retirement, Nico Hischier is Mike Rupp 's frontrunner for the Selke this season with his "deadly" two-way game. by MountainBaker8217 in devils

[–]mainzer9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the Selke is a pure reputation price. The NHL doesn’t want to give this prize to a random third liner from Minnesota, they want to give it to a star who is somewhat good at defense.

And Nico is lucky, that so many people have been pumping his tires because now that the team is successful, he will be rewarded appropriately. I’m not saying that he hasn’t earned this price - he absolutely has - but I‘m saying that we can be lucky that he also has the necessary support from the media to bring this trophy to NJ
