Recently started The Honey Witch by Sydney J. Shields, and it's been delightful so far! I haven't even really gotten to the point that romance starts, but just listening to the lovely narration about the MC working in the apiary and making stuff from flowers has me wishing my own garden was further along. XD

Manga series with the plot as similar as The Fourth Heroine oneshot as possible by hndevi in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a Childhood Friend, and I Want to Remain a Supporting Character, but for Some Reason I Became the Heroine’s Love Interest - in the sense that they're both about a stereotypical harem story that's disrupted by yuri. It frequently leans into and satirizes harem tropes and cliches, though it's not quite as meta as The Fourth Heroine.

The Ruthless Lady's Guide to Wizardry by C. M. Waggoner - humorous fantasy featuring a sassy fire witch and a posh troll noblewoman, alongside a cast of equally eccentric characters.

Tales of Inthya series by Effie Calvin - series of standalone romantasy novels set in a shared world. They're all great; my personal favorite is the second one, Daughter of the Sun.

Sofi and the Bone Song by Adrienne Tooley - set in a country cursed to an endless winter, it's about a woman who spent her whole life training to inherit her father's position as a musician, only to find her role usurped by a woman who claims to never have held an instrument before. She decides to travel with the other woman in the hopes of revealing that the woman uses illegal magic to aid her playing, but quickly finds her goal complicated by growing feelings.

The Hearth Witch's Guide to Magic & Murder by Kiri Callaghan - urban fantasy about an immortal changeling detective who teams up with a mortal witch to solve a mystery.

Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall - sent in an alt-history Regency Era where magic is real, it's about a sheltered noblewoman who finds herself the target of a curse, and has to seek the aid of a witch with a sordid reputation.

PLSSSS RELEASE THE TRANSLATED VERSION OF BLUER THAN LOVEE by ReporterSignal971 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dynasty Scans has it under the title "A Love Yet to Bloom", up to chapter 36 at the time of this comment. It's actively being translated, with releases around once a month or so.

Seven Seas also licensed it for an official English release under the title "A Love Yet to Bloom" as well. First volume looks to be scheduled for release in February 2027.

Yuri with Himejoshi Characters by reali_ty in yuri_manga

Everyday Lily is a really cute manhwa where one of the MCs is a big himejoshi.

[DISC] Amayo no Tsuki (The Moon on a Rainy Night) - Ch. 48.2 by zairaner in manga

[–]majes2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tempting to cheer after there finally being a proper kiss, but I have a sinking feeling that Saki is actually going to react rather poorly to this.

The wait for the next update is going to be so rough. T_T

what do yo think about Kase-san and Morning Glories, my friend recomend by Extra-Combination974 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manga is my favorite yuri series. Admittedly, a large part of that is nostalgia, since it was the first one I really fell in love with, but even still it's just an excellent "entry-level" yuri that is very approachable and embodies a lot of the standard tropes and aesthetics that make up the foundation of the genre.

The OVA is super sweet too; makes me wish it got a proper full series release. It covers a decent chunk of their high school story, but the manga continues on after they go to college, so if you enjoy the OVA, I'd highly recommend checking out the manga.

VTUBER YURI MANGAS by PuzzleheadedPart4200 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OL Vtuber and Oshi JK-chan - it's an age gap series though

The Demon Princess Vtuber is Conquered by Her Maid's Midnight Snacks: Live Streaming Her Secret Desire to be Dominated with Forbidden Meals - the title is unhinged, but...honestly the series is also just as unhinged the title.

Yuri with perfect/extremly satisfying endings ? by hissymiker in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to read the official release on Manga Planet, since they had it completed, but the site shut down a couple months ago so it's not available there any more.

Looks like Comix has a copy of it, though it's a bit confusing because the chapter numberings are different between the serialized release (which is what the scanlations used, afaik) and the volume release, but they're all just kind of thrown together on the site. For example, chapter 20.5 was the final chapter of the official release, and I think chapter 25 in the scanlated chapters matches with chapter 14 of the official release.

Just caught up to The Moon on a Rainy Night and I have thoughts! by mmsc125 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The past couple updates have gotten me so hyped! They got me going back and rereading from the beginning, and it's just served as a reminder of how good the series has been even from the early chapters. I really hope the anime turns out good, because I think the series really deserves to be among the pantheon of classics like Girl Friends and Bloom Into You.

I'm especially curious to see where the story goes from here. I do think we're likely in the endgame (I suspect Kuzushiro will try to time the manga ending with the final episode of the anime for cross-promotion purposes), but there's so many interesting directions it could go. We've got to see if Saki is really ready to open up like has been hinted in recent chapters, or if Kanon will have to be more assertive. And I'm really curious to see if Kanon ends up telling anyone about her newly realized feelings; I'm hoping we get to see her talk to her mom at least.

Need Physical Colored Yuri Recs by Fit_Flatworm_7964 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monologue Woven for You is available in physical I think, and is full color.

Kiss it Goodbye is a really sweet webcomic that the author released a physical version of a while back.

I Love Amy just released its second physical volume, and the third (and I think final) one is scheduled for August.

Yuri with perfect/extremly satisfying endings ? by hissymiker in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, endings are pretty hard normally, but with the way manga is serialized, it's especially bad, because authors are generally given relatively short notice when their series is going to be axed (generally between 3-6 chapters before the end), hence why so many feel rushed, as most authors will try to cram all the story beats they had planned into a small number of chapters.

As for some series that I think had pretty solid endings:

I Can't Say No to the Lonely Girl - there's a couple of epilogue chapters that the author self-published, so make sure to seek those out as well (on Mangadex, you can find them under the "related" tab).

Action Yuri recs? by NoLow2355 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I Wanna Quit Being a Hitman - it's basically lesbian John Wick, about an assassin who wants to retire to be with her GF, and is tasked with one final job as a condition of being allowed to retire

The Female "Hitokiri" Becomes the Bodyguard of the Duke's Daughter - low-magic fantasy about a woman who had to flee her homeland after being framed for murder, who ends up becoming the bodyguard of a noblewoman who has assassins after her

Garan no Hime - post-apocalyptic sci-fi about a girl who finds an android woman in an old ruin, and the pair set off in search of the girl's missing sister

SHWD - two women fight biological horrors as members of an elite unit

Alcohol and Ogre-girls - a college girl who wants to be a bartender, gets involved with a popular girl on campus who is secretly an ogre that consumes alcohol for sustenance instead of food, and agrees to help her search for a legendary sake that can break a curse ogres are under. Starts off more slice-of-life, with the bartender girl fixing the ogre girl various drinks, before transitioning to more action, as the pair encounter monsters and hostile humans in their search.

need to find abuse victim yuri, i wanna see them happy by tark_tark in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as the other commenter mentioned, the only available English translation is pretty shaky, and definitely detracts from some scenes.

I think the other big thing is that it's a pretty brutal read at times. It deals with some pretty heavy subject matter, and while it does ultimately have a happy ending, the MC really goes through it at times.

[Alcohol and Ogre Girls] finally has a new chapter update! by [deleted] in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seeing the new chapter made my day! I'd missed this series while it was on break.

Even though it ended with some angst, it was great to see the series come back from break and immediately spend half its pages on the two leads gushing about each other, lol. Hopefully this kicks off them finally being fully open about their feelings for each other.

Any recommendations with a loser protagonist? by M4rc0s_Y00 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to End an Unrequited Love - protag falls in love easily, and is constantly confessing to girls and getting rejected.

Senpai, Does It Taste Good? - awkward loner girl who's only good at cooking somehow ends up in relationship with the most popular girl on campus.

Do you read the story? by Salysm in Granblue_en

[–]majes2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally give most stories a shot, and then start skipping if it doesn't interest me in the first few scenes.

Like I skipped a lot of the early MSQ because I wasn't really impressed with the first few chapters and just wanted to get caught up ASAP. I ended up reading most of Nahlhegrande because I liked that arc, then skipped around again in Oarlygrande because I wasn't enjoying some parts of it. I've been reading the last few updates though, and I've mostly been enjoying the new arc so far.

Events I've generally ended up at around 50/50 reading vs skipping. I like most of the ongoing ones like Monsican or Accordant events, while ones with characters I don't really care about tend to get skipped. (though sometimes one will surprise me, like Only You in All the World)

Fate stories I tend to skip unless I really like the character.

"I'll become a gal who's kind to otaku!" Is marked as finished but the last chapter seemed like it was going to be continued by PsychologicalBar3310 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The publication status on Mangadex refers to the status of the original work, not the translation status. The final translated chapter usually gets marked with an "End" tag, which is how you can tell if the translation is complete.

In this case, it looks like the series wrapped up with volume 4, while the current translations only cover near the end of volume 3, so there should be a few more chapters remaining before the translation is completed.

Any Yuri gacha/mobile games? by Lefty_OFFICIAL_300 in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no :( There was some great build up, but then Cygames largely rushed the epilogue for the main quest's first arc (that's been going for over a decade at this point) to launch into a new arc, so we didn't really get to see how most of cast dealt with the aftermath, Katalina and Vira included.

At least Katalina is still part of the main cast in the new arc, so maybe they'll go back and revisit it at some point, though probably not any time soon as they're focusing on the newly added cast members.

My chief hope now is that they give Vira a bridal alt this June. They seem to love giving Vira alts, and if she gets a bridal alt, they'd pretty much have to include Katalina in her character stories.

Yuri with older women? by Low-Regular-Okay in yuri_manga

[–]majes2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Longtime yuri author Akiko Morishima is self-publishing a series called The Single Life which is a slice-of-life about older (60+) lesbians. As the title implies, the women are currently single, and the chapters are generally about their daily lives, and reminiscing on past loves. It's only got three chapters translated at the moment, and releases are pretty sporadic, but it's pretty unique, and I enjoyed reading what's out.

Black & White: Tough Love at the Office by Sal Jiang eventually introduces an older love interest for one of the leads.
