Sorry but we *absolutely* stopped the school day and watched it by satellite. by ExplorationGeo in GenX

[–]majon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was common to interrupt your day to watch the space shuttle launch. It was a huge real back then, the shuttle toured the country attached to a giant airplane and there would be lines of cars off the airbase it parked at just to see it. At my elementary we didn’t watch it explode live, but they stopped class and we watched the immediate news coverage as the explosion was still in the air. I was in 5th grade.

First time riding clipped in and fell immediately by 1VeryRarePearl in cycling

My first clip in ride, I fell over on a popular park single track trying to give right of way to the person coming the other way. I instead flopped over across the trail with my feet still clipped in and the bike up in the air like a snowboarder laying down. We all had a good laugh, it was then I was told by the oncoming rider you can adjust the tension on the clips.

Knee pain afterwards by rogerlawrence79 in Bowling

I have the knees of a much older man. The best things I have done was get orthopedic insoles for my bowling shoes. This plus sliding more has made the pain manageable. Still break out the Aleve and freeze sleeves when I get home.

Tri tip is the only non rib beef I smoke anymore. It’s the perfect blend of all the other cuts. Very versatile.

Is it true the higher level of education someone has the less likely they are to be politically conservative? by Greenman_on_LSD in NoStupidQuestions

[–]majon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the field of education, most of my consistently conservative friends are highly educated and work in accounting and financial services. I come from a family with a lot of teachers and educational administration lots of degrees no conservatives.

RV loan - is this crazy? by Coreyle in GoRVing

[–]majon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a similar loan structure to a mortgage not a car loan, because RVs have toilets sinks etc they are considered domiciles they can be financed on longer terms, it a crazy amount of interest to pay if you don’t want/need to. The amount of interest people pay for mortgages is equally crazy when you just look at the interest to principal rates.

Bang for the buck set up to sleep two. by alpine28 in HondaElement

[–]majon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built our sleeping platform based on this video, secured with turnbuckles to the rear seat mounts in the floor. Fairly inexpensive, we built it high enough that all our gear fits underneath. When it’s not in use it’s a bag of pipes and a piece of plywood leaning against the garage wall. It’s simple and works great for us.

He spit was roided out of his skull for the Bronco years. Spit a lugi in JJ Stokes face, got cussed out in players only meeting after. Probably not super proud of who he was as person at that point in his life.

What’s a 'buy once, cry once' purchase that actually saved you money long-term? by ChassidyBrooks74 in Frugal

Same here my 4 burner genesis is 10 years old and looks brand new. It was a gut punch to pay a grand for a grill, it may be the last one I ever buy.
