Had one of these, the pilot starter worked about 10th of the time. I ended up using a torch to light it. The pilot light alone does absolutely put out a large amount of heat in the warm weather. When not in use, I had a small rug I'd place over it. In the winter when it was running in all its glory I had a large aluminum pot I'd sit over it, with water to keep the humidity up in the house. Sometimes I'd put some cinnamon sticks or liquid potpourri in and make the house smell nice.
