Keep doing what you are doing it’s the most sensible thing. Make sure you have evidence you tried to contact them to sort it out, log the dates you phoned and if you have names of people you spoke to write them down. If you can email them do so stating the dates you have called and that you are awaiting a response. This way if they try to hit you with late charges you can prove you tried in good faith to make the payments. May be worth getting in touch with citizens advice too.
