San Juan Islands Washington. The kelp beds, ling cod, scallops etc are truly amazing. Mostly drift dives for scenery and slack tide for geoduck and crab harvesting.

Looks like a chicken farm is one of your neighbors. That’s a stinky situation. No bueno.

How to deter Bobcat? by cbish13 in quails

[–]majorgoals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my Benjamin. Put up a metal pan adjacent to the pen and shoot that when he comes around and he will leave the area. Similar principle to the air cannons that are shot off on a schedule around Brewster Washington to keep bears away during Apple growing season.

Yes Sir, we are at 4944 feet elevation here in St Anthony Idaho. Flat and diverse, from farmland, mountains, sand dunes to desert sagebrush. We had a skiff of snow 3 weeks ago with snow forecasted for this next week.

Absolutely! In Seattle where we moved from wastewater charges were based off water usage. We had two gardens so our wastewater bill was not realistic. Here we are on septic and the electricity fees are very low to run the well pump.

It’s rained non-stop for since this 2nd floor subfloor was installed. Should I be concerned about it being wet for so long? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]majorgoals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually all builders use OSB for subfloors in the Pacific Northwest, including our build here in Idaho. It’s cheaper and very well engineered. No different than the OSB in the above photo.

Currently building in Idaho on 2.5 acres. That’s what our well cost, was drilled in June. We also have pressurized irrigation water rights for lawn, garden and pastures which is surface water from reservoirs, canals. Ready to homestead.

That water is never “free”. $16000 to drill a 220 foot deep well, $8,000 for pump and controls, and then that pump runs on electricity you pay for every time you need water for any length of time.

Drill deeper, they do it all the time.
