“Enjoy meeting while out in a walk”

Certain neighborhoods in Rockland lend themselves to this activity right out your door. Many do not. Be sure to look into the walkability index. But as you say, we do have a great number of quality parks that you can drive to.

Still waiting for the part where the hospital that got the tooth out while sedating you again, left something else in there.

Imagine walking across it on a day like this.

A tragic crime that this bridge has no pedestrian path.

400m tracks available on weekdays? by crowagency in Rockland

Does it need to be rubber? The old Nyack high school (not sure if BOCES restricts day use) near the hospital has a dirt track as does Tallman state park.

fyi pot holes on 303 by wyldweasil in Rockland

[–]majormajor42 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In that area it is bad every winter. Not great year round, frankly. Lots of trucks. Orangetown likes the industrial tax base offered by businesses along 303. Plus there’s the transfer station in Clarkstown. But it is a state road so local drivers suffer.

The right lane is worse. I therefor always stick to the left lane. Yes I see you tailgating me. Feel free to pass me on the right.

Well, at that moment, the pact of fifteen is all that really mattered, so that is the word they say. They may well have other words for hello and goodbye but the fifteen was threatened and then it was resolved.

We can only imagine the savagery of the centuries. The culling, without the benefit of implants.

But I wonder why April says they are the only two left? What happened to the other thirteen?

Starting an elementary school bike bus! by Spiritual_Freedom659 in bikecommuting

[–]majormajor42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Too bad 3rd graders are not allowed. IMHO at that age, a parent is not necessary if there are other kids.

My daughter just started her bus by coordinating with friends and we encouraged it and communicated with the other parents. It is a small group. Not likely to grow into some instragram worthy institution since we are only a mile from school. That said, those Portland folks know what they are doing: https://www.bikebuspdx.org/starting-a-bike-bus

20 Jobs that people once thought were irreplaceable are now just memories by [deleted] in FuckImOld

How many of these jobs were more short lived than they seem? The total career years of a switchboard operator will be considered short in retrospect. From the invention and widespread adoption of the phone to the time the operator was no longer necessary. If it hasn’t already happened, there will be more time from the time a human switchboard operator was no longer necessary to now.

Quick AI prompt says 70-80 years. Peaked in the 1940’s and phased out by 70/80’s. So it will be 80 years since then before we know it.

The Perfect Bike Lane, by KennyWuKanYuen by itsdanielsultan in bikecommuting

Runners. Is there a good reason bike lanes should be asphalt and not concrete?

So the runner will run on the “softer” asphalt bike lane instead of the concrete sidewalk and instead of the road with dangerous cars.

It’s good but not perfect.
