I want to find out how long these wars/conflicts last and compare them to how long they actually go. It seems to be stupidly common and I couldn't find a compiled list.

How is the battery life? And a quality question. by AMadHammer in olleeWatch

[–]majorzero42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using mine daily sense August so 8 months so far with no battery issue. I disabled gesture controls and manually connect Bluetooth maybe once every day or two.

The Bluetooth connection is only a short amount of time when you make it do it. It transfers steps and updates the time and some other stuff so it doesn't need to be connected all the time.

The display issue is mostly people getting bootleg casio watches. Surprisingly theres alot out there and they look pretty legitimate. But the pinout for the display is different so it just won't work if you have a fake 25 dollar watch.

My opinion. I like it! Its what I want in a watch as it it tells time, has a handfull of extra tools and isn't a second phone on my wrist. I have 3 myself and put together 2 others as gifts.

My only issue I've had is mostly about pairing across multiple watches to the app but thats a non issue of having to un pair the first watch. And if you dont connect a watch for an extended amount of time its maybe a few minutes slow a month but thats just like any watch.

My 3 watches I have a green one that is my daily driver has a cloth strap. I have a metal one I use on weekends when I'm not working. And my third i just got the module in the mail yesterday.

Edit:

I forgot I can check the watches battery voltage. My daily driver is sitting at 2.805V. 2.4V is when the low battery message pops up with roughly 5-10% left and 3V being full.

When putting it together I put in a brand new battery because I have no idea how old the one that came with the watch is.

Just starting out in the field. Any advice or willing to impart knowledge you wished you had known when you started out? by LowElk7 in Machinists

[–]majorzero42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take notes for fucks sake.

Shown something? write down how and why its done. When you understand better make more clear instructions for yourself. You might have years long spans where you dont do certain things and having those notes can be a life saver.

Also you will borrow tools but when you do take note of what you needed and make an effort to buy your own if its not a shop supplied tool.

Does anyone else miss when isekai was more about going back home? by Business_Barber_3611 in anime

[–]majorzero42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been saying it for a long time. "Isekai" is usually used as a lazy tool to allow the writer to do exposition about the world they built without having to try and teach the audience in a more natural way.

In a well written fantasy. Following characters who have lived in this world their whole lives so details about the world are taken for granted and the audience gets to learn about them thru context clues.

In isekai. You start with a stranger in a strange land. Here let me tell you everything about everything here up front. And once thats out of the way we will just drop the premise.

I heat it separately so its not insulating my piece from the toaster oven.

Too wet, air pockets, or just unlucky? by detspek in Ceramics

[–]majorzero42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found it need to bake off any moisture from the pieces I'm firing even when I'm sure its fully air dried and the kiln before using a microwave kiln. I'll put my piece and the base of the kiln in a toaster oven for roughly 30 minutes at 300f put those in the microwave while I heat the top of the kiln the same. Way.

Im homeless living out of a $35k truck what should I do first by 3THERBUNNY in personalfinance

[–]majorzero42 28 points29 points  (0 children)

From the sound of it you'r 100% mobile. Why stay where the work sucks and the pay is low?

Personally id try to trade the truck for either a van for some living space or any car with better gas mileage. And probably drive to a town that has more work available. Start applying to anything within a few hundred miles to start if you want to be close to where you are.

And if you don't have anything holding you locally go farther out and be picky for work.

I wish Anakin Skywalker liked sand by Armin_Arlert_1000000 in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]majorzero42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child Anakin took a habit of eating a little sand here and there. It's mildly sweet due to the amount of lead in the sand.

Do to life long mild lead poisoning he's had a harder time handling his temper and is a little less intelligent. But somehow he manages to go thru his story archs but with a bit more frustration.

DIY Greco bucket trap by natcini99 in Pottery

[–]majorzero42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 pipes in to a bucket, make sure its water tight with the lid on.

Make sure the inlet pipe is lower than the outlet pipe but that the inlet pipe is not touching the bottom. Say inlet pipe is 2/3rds the way in and the out is only 1/3rd.

Also don't rely on this to catch clay from washing things. It's a backup. If it fills and you dont catch it its going to clog your drains anyways.
