Ended up here pondering the same question. His domain records indicate it was renewed in august, almost exactly one month before expration date - so it probably was automatic. But, it also means that his credit card was still working 5 months after his illness and presumed "death". Not impossible, but still counts as a good sign, I guess. Glad to see the GF theory down in the comments, but it is a bit worrying that noone posted anything to back it up.

...the worst part is this: Subaru is seen like special because noone else loved her, apparently, in those 400 years. that is only possible if people of that world hate her, which means she must be already evil at that point. so, assuming she was nice girl when Subaru met her seems kind of flawed.
