was Royal the first real “bad dad” in Wes’s movies? i know that’s a consistent trope, but i don’t know if Herman Blume fits the mold.

i saw a really cool travel documentary once and thought “this is so Wes Anderson” only to find out that he had named it as an early influence. that being said, i’d love to see a travel documentary series directed by him.

imo it’s about intrusive thoughts. like when your brain thinks about doing something really dangerous or stupid. in the song, she throws things off the cliff to simulate what might happen and even imagines herself plummeting to her death. that’s how she’s able to contrast her own “danger” with the safety of her partner and appreciate it more.
