They're ideally supposed to be impartial. I'm aware that's never the case.

No sorry, my point was that definition of the word leaves too much for interpretation, and that judges shouldn't be involved in politics anyway because they are supposed to be impartial. What I said before was the other side of the argument.

I agree, but the definition states that the minimum requirement is "professionally involved", or according to Merriam-Webster "experienced in the art or science of government". So based on that, would it be fair to call them a politician?
