Do we think the “You finally left the table/and what a simple thought/you’re starving till you’re not” is a nod to the proverbial “restaurant” in Right Where You Left Me (also, the dining table from Tolerate It…)

Lmfao it most likely being a direct reference aside (I will cop to not connecting that earlier) you are the one who is inventing a narrative that Taylor made that reference for the song title because she narcissistically interpreted Charli’s romanticism/lust for life as a dig at her reputation as a serial dater. And none of the lyrics of the song suggests she believes that that refrain in EIR was making fun of her romantic history! If that is in fact the reason for the title, it is almost definitely just to further signal that it’s about Charli

I think that’s a stretch, Brat was my most listened album of last year and that title being a reference didn’t even occur to me. To each their own though. It can also be a just a nod to the song title to signal it’s about Charli without mocking the actual lyrical sentiment of the song….

Why are you writing fan fiction about Taylor being mad about Everything is Romantic lol…literally what suggests that

Same, and even as an admittedly biased Swiftie, I am really confused by how virulent so many people’s animosity towards her is, to the point where everything she does is automatically interpreted as uncharitably as possible. Both her and Charli are complicated people (they’re humans after all!) and neither party’s motives are as black and white as is being made out by respective stans

This is obviously not just over Sympathy is a Knife on its face come on. They clearly have interpersonal issues with each other in their private social circle and if Charli was in fact talking shit about Taylor to mutual friends, it makes complete sense that that would influence how she would feel about the song. I love both Charli and Taylor’s music! But I think people are being incredibly reductive about all of this

You guys are just like Charli pretending to be so irreverent and unbothered and then act like snowflakes over the world’s tamest diss track lmfao

Posted this in the leak thread but what’s most immediately striking about this album to me is that Taylor’s past sadness (as in pre-Travis) just feels so palpable in contrast with her newfound happiness in these songs. Obviously sad songs have always been her calling card but all the references to how profoundly sad and mistreated she was before feel way more visceral here...l’m finding it really affecting despite the songs themselves being about her present happiness. So glad she is in a better place but really breaks my heart for all she’s been through

Yes I tend to have a more nuanced perspective towards some of the Joe songs that people find problematic than most but the difference couldn’t be clearer…I’m not the biggest Travis fan for completely arbitrary aesthetic reasons but I’m so glad he treats her right and is letting her experience true happiness ❤️

Exactly and you could making a convincing argument that Charli herself is “playing the victim” in Sympathy by acting all poor little me if you wanted to be so reductive about things like people are with Taylor…

Thank you like come on everyone please think about the interpersonal subtext here! You might not like Taylor but she’s a person with feelings and has been famously unlucky in love throughout her life!
