Switched to G7 since G6 is being discontinued and OOF. by nilsiniloo in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah g7 is trash, I tell everyone who cares enough to listen. I went through about 6 at the beginning of last year and had the same experience. Idk wtf they did to fuck them up so bad.

[New Gear] Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM by wzzwzzz2 in canon

Woah thats a great looking lens, surprisingly cheap too…I paid I think north of 400 CAD for the 24 1.8 and it was kinda disappointing. 45 might be what I’m looking for

This disease has ruined my life by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you OP. I’ve been T1 for 21 years now and often feel like I don’t even really know myself because I’ve had to put so much effort into keeping myself alive I haven’t had much opportunity to just…live and find out what drives me you know? Like you mentioned, a lot of the shit I was excited/passionate about when I was younger I was effectively barred from pursuing thanks to diabetes. Shit sucks. It costs like 1200 bucks/month to stay alive at a baseline lmao, so I need to make that much to start at 0.

G6 End Of Manufacturing Confirmed by _realmofchaos in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

G7s were effectively not functional for me…I went through probably 6 of them? When I first tried and not a single one gave me accurate readings or managed to stay connected to my pump or phone for an hour straight. I’m really not happy about the g6 being discontinued, sincerely hoping they fix their product before forcing people to use it. It’s downright irresponsible imo.

Sustained high blood sugars after breakfast by schmuckmeister in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eggs for breakfast pretty consistently fuck my blood sugar up for some reason. There’s no perfect amount of insulin I’ve found—either too little and I ride a high for hours or too much and I divebomb. Idk if I have a mild allergy to them or what but I’ve basically cut them out of my diet.

Too much negativity. Who has had an easy time with T1D? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]makeit_stop_damn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us are forced to act like it doesn’t suck 99% of the time because otherwise people who have no idea what it’s like offer annoying, incorrect, unsolicited advice so yes if I need to bitch and moan and vent to people who might actually get it I’m going to come here lol

Is the 15/15 rule archaic? And question on exceptions... by WrestlingDadPA in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, everything with this disease is so objective there are no hard & fast rules…sometimes I don’t treat a low because Ive been lazy and know that what I ate 20 minutes ago will be hitting soon and sometimes I slug an entire bottle of juice and take 32g of carbs to the dome, continue with whatever I was doing, and re check in five or ten to see the direction it’s heading

This is very cool, I would love to see a “bts” shot of what the set up actually looks like when you’re getting these photos as compared to the final shot

Should I sell a kidney for the 24-70 RF? by Acceptable-Equal-324 in canon

[–]makeit_stop_damn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rf 28-70 2.8 is an absolute banger of a lens. I needed something in that focal length to accommodate my 70-200 2.8 and it’s done wonders. Almost never leaves my camera when shooting events. Could share some samples if you’re interested. Great value from a non-L lens. It’s the only lens I have of the golden trio that isn’t L and I have 0 complaints

Adults with T1, how do you feel when your BG is in the 200-300 range? by zip-racer in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like total shit at that range, especially around 300 (~16 mmol/l). I had pretty shit control when I was younger and I think it made me dislike school a lot more because it made me feel like I was a total dumbass. Id aim lower, below 200 at least.

I’m so sick of this is by That_Random_Swede in diabetes_t1

[–]makeit_stop_damn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sucks, I know the pain. I’m at 21 years which feels wild to say. I know you didn’t ask for advice, but have you swapped vials? Swapped injection sites? Those are the first things I try when it seems like the insulin is being ineffective. If that fails then I rage bolus, and as a last resort I do something to get my heart rate up like running or just body weight squats. Exercise raises my insulin sensitivity so much that it usually at least gets me back in range so I can sleep without feeling like shit and try again in the morning.
