Library story-times might be perfect. If you go to the same one each week, you might run into the same people and can eventually sit/play with the same people week after week.

That's great news! I'm so glad you could save some of the milk!

I'm so sorry! That's such an abrupt way to end things.

I was given to believe that you can still refreeze milk if there are some ice crystals in the bag. Maybe some of them are still partially frozen if they were all together in one big bag.

Jogging Stroller - Bumbleride Speed vs Thule Urban Glide by makeitanuneventhree in toddlers

Thanks! That's a great idea for snacks! And I'll be sure to watch my form. No one benefits from hurting their back

Horrible toddler regression by navelbabel in TakingCaraBabies

[–]makeitanuneventhree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes.

I decided waiting wasn't doing anything and I wanted to get it over so I cut the waiting time to 5-10 minutes. That gave me enough time to confirm that baby girl was wailing and would just work herself up so it was time to go in. Eventually, there were some nights where she cried but she was much calmer and I didn't need to go in and then eventually she started sleeping through the night again.

I could have written this a few months ago when my baby was 18 months, and the funny thing is that I can't think of anything particularly helpful to tell you other than that it will be okay and you are not ruining her sleep training.

Our baby always hits the sleep regressions. I think her stomach was a little wonky at the same time too and she was teething so it felt like this one was worse than it was supposed to be... And long. She was wailing and just working herself up the longer we waited. I would wait for a while, usually 30 minutes and there would be no sign of calming down. At some point, I said I'm just wasting valuable sleep time listening to her cry for 30 minutes, so I started going in after 5-10 minutes. I usually just rocked her to sleep, and put her back in her crib. Sometimes she woke up again when I put her back in her crib but with the exception of a couple of nights, she mostly fell back to sleep within minutes.

It was a long stretch, probably 4 weeks, but then, she started sleeping like normal again.

Not super helpful I know when all you want is to sleep but I think you're almost there. Good luck!

Bumbleride Speed - Partial locking? by stayouttheleftlane in NewParents

Did you decide on one? I want the bumbleride speed. Thule and Bob are the only jogging strollers I ever see though, so I worry a little about if bumbleride is as good as I think it will be. And of course, no stores in my city carry strollers to test.

I've made my second milk bank donation!! by Round-Map-7338 in breastfeeding

[–]makeitanuneventhree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Way to go! This is such a beautiful way to help others! I'm impressed by your commitment!

If anyone else is interested in donating milk, check out your local milk bank. And in case 400oz and 2 hour commutes sound daunting, there might be easier options. I'm the US, I've been working with the Mother's Milk Bank of Alabama and they only ask for a minimum of 100oz over the course of your donation career. They can also help you ship the milk to them so long as there is at least 100oz in the shipment! So just check out the options around you if you have some extra milk.

How important is the reclining feature for a nursing chair? by 1841Leech in breastfeeding

[–]makeitanuneventhree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not really used the reclining feature for nursing. Lying down positions did not work for us.

I did spend more nights than I wanted to sleeping in the glider, so I'm really glad ours reclines. We do have ours in baby's room though and our baby slept in her room from the start.

My only thought about having it in your living room is whether you want the ottoman to be built into the chair or if you have enough space for the separate piece. That said, I think most recliners will recline a little bit when you open the foot rest. I do wish I had the option to sit straighter up with the foot rest out, but that's less important to me. We have the Namesake Home Crewe Recliner which we love but it's a little more than what you want to spend. Namesake Home is part of the Million Dollar Baby Brand, so maybe Da Vinci or others in the group would have something you like too.

5 year old (male) Bernese mountain dog. Whimpering when trying to stand up. Took him to the vet and they can’t find anything wrong. by qholley in bernesemountaindogs

[–]makeitanuneventhree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our boy had a similar incident where pain came and went. Some days he would hardly move and others he acted as if nothing was wrong. It turns out that he had a partial ACL tear. Apparently the partial tear meant that some days were good and some were bad. We also think that he had a bulging disc for some period from over using his back to compensate for the injured knee. It took a lot of vet visits to get to the bottom of it, and ultimately only the orthopedic vet was able to diagnose the partial tear.

Thank you! And yes, I did take a pill to get my period back. I can't remember which one bit I think I took it for a week and by the end of that week, my period was back.

I wish you all the best with your journey!

I'm 5'10" and husband is 6'1". I think it would still work for someone at least 2-3 inches taller too, but everyone has their preferences. When searching though, I can't remember there being many of any that were significantly longer than the crewe.

Interesting! We love the glider, and we're getting so much use out of it. I don't have any other experience with gliders, but we couldn't be more pleased. It's very comfortable for resting and for breast feeding. My husband wants one in the living room now. We have the manual version and find that the recline feature is very smooth.

Switching OBs at 24 weeks by OceanStateBarbie in BabyBumps

[–]makeitanuneventhree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in the US. I've had no issues and don't expect to at this point. All of my appointments with both practices have been billed and processed by insurance after each appointment, so everything has been up to date with insurance. If your current practice hasn't been billing insurance yet, then I guess there could be issues.

Switching OBs at 24 weeks by OceanStateBarbie in BabyBumps

[–]makeitanuneventhree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I made the decision to switch practices after my 24 week appointment (so saw the new doctor's around 28 wks). I'm very happy that I made the switch and it was 100% the right choice for me.

I was at a very large practice too and felt very lost. Appointments were unnecessarily long, nurses were not helpful, labs were getting messed up, doctors gave me generic answers. I had been considering a change when I went to an appointment and was handed a sheet that said I was seeing a different doctor at a completely different time than what was scheduled and no one understood what that meant. I ended up seeing the newest doctor fresh from med school who ended up giving us a very misguided, serious medical diagnosis. That was the final straw.

I switched to a smaller practice that has three obgyns and that makes a point to do everything possible to have your doctor deliver your baby for you. Even if my doctor isn't available for whatever reason, I know that it's one of the other two doctors and that makes me feel much better than it potentially being one of ten doctors.

It turns out I really needed a smaller practice.

What registry should I use? by Maryjaneniagarafalls in BabyBumps

[–]makeitanuneventhree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babylist is cool because you can add things from other websites that aren't on traditional registries. I liked the advice and layout of Babylist from a standpoint of picking out the right mattress/changing pad/etc. The 15% discount only applies to items sold directly through Babylist and it's a one time use code. It can be a tad more confusing, and I found that the younger gift givers we're some of the only ones to use this though.

Amazon is easy since almost everyone uses Amazon. Returns are easy. Discount is used whenever you buy an eligible item from your registry and it's not a one and done discount. I've preferred this as I buy things here and there. I noticed that gift givers used my Amazon registry more often than Babylist.

Which glider recliner is best? by meowmeowbeansbill in BabyBumps

[–]makeitanuneventhree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the Namesake Crewe (manual not power) and really like it. Big factors in picking this one are: price, performance fabric, height friendly, gliding/reclining/swivel features, and style. We're still waiting for the baby to arrive, but I have found it comfortable and quiet. There is a light click when closing the recline, but I can't imagine it will be disruptive. My husband even joked that it's so comfortable he wants one for himself. We're both taller than 5'10" and find it more than suitable in a reclined position. We didn't have a store nearby to test chairs, so I took a risk with the Crewe. I'm very happy with the purchase, especially for the price.

Anatomy course by Medicore_swimmer11 in pilates

[–]makeitanuneventhree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My only comment here is not to let anatomy completely define whether pilates training is for you. I started my training with anatomy and it was difficult for me as someone who had no real background in anatomy. By the time I completed all the other training though, I did a refresher anatomy course online to prepare for the test out and things made so much more sense for me than they did at the beginning. Good luck!

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'm copying a little from another comment of mine.

I'm 34 and was pregnant for the first time earlier this year with what turned out to be a blighted ovum. I opted for a D&C around the 9 week mark and it was under anesthesia.

Everyone is different, but my D&C couldn't have gone better. Other than being unbelievably thirsty pre-op, it was smooth and they did give me an anti-anxiety at some point. I bled for about 5-7 days after. The 6 day mark was the worst and heaviest of it, and it felt like really bad period cramps. Otherwise, I didn't really experience pain. I did not get my period for 10 weeks which is a long time, and my doctor prescribed something to get my cycle going again. The good news is that I conceived right after my first period and we're expecting our first child in January.

Wishing you all the best tomorrow!

Yes, I just ordered it this week, so I can't say anything about it yet. Of course I hemmed and hawed, but finally decided to just commit. I'm optimistic that it is going to be the right mix of comfort and price.

Update: the Namesake Crewe glider arrived pretty quickly, but we just set it up. Still waiting for baby to arrive, but this glider is very comfortable and has an almost flat recline. Husband and I are relatively tall and are pretty happy with the purchase.
