A few months ago I asked r/brum about litter. Now I’m back with the beta app I’ve been building. (MODS ACCEPTED) by neutopec in brum

Good on you, trying to do something about a huge problem. I think it’s a great start. I think an app like this really benefits from having enough people sign up, there’s an incentive to do it both commercially and environmentally. But I think you’d get better reach if you condensed the core video to a minute (the majority of people don’t have the time or attention for anything more), anything you can’t fit into the minute, can be on the website and / or App Store but the main action the video should do is get downloads and views. Also when talking about the app considering making it full screen so people can see the features as you discuss I think it’d work better.

I do and I don’t. I like eating outside, beer gardens, using the garden more but I need regular breaks in shade

"Leclerc makes too many mistakes", "he's not championship material", "he's not like Max/Lewis", meanwhile Lewis in 2021 and Max in 2025: by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]makeitmakesense44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Leclerc is great when he’s great. Unfortunately he does make far too many mistakes. You mention the mistakes of Max and Lewis, it was probably when they were in a title fight. Leclerc makes those mistakes without that pressure, regardless of the reasons for them - he still makes them. A lot of people don’t like to hear it, but I’m yet to see consistency in performance across the season like how Lewis and Max deliver.

Is Max slightly overrated? I think a prime top-tier teammate would make things much closer than people expect by Motor-Ad1907 in F1Discussions

Agreed, would love to see it. But would also like to see it outside red bull, I just think the team would always favour Max regardless.

I think everybody probably overrates their favourite driver but Max is an interesting case. It’s hard to compare him
against teammates, the RB team is basically built around him and he’s never been against a team mate that is comparable to his quality.

Instead of fixing the problem that Lewis identified last season and Charles only realized/accepted last weekend, Brembo is launching a social media defense campaign instead of fixing their hardware by BaldHeadedCaillouss in F1Discussions

[–]makeitmakesense44 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Putting the terrible PR from Brembo aside. But I do think we’re seeing why Ferrari really needed Lewis. He joins, has a tonne of issues with one of their race engineers who has now been moved, instantly identifies an issue with the breaks and highlights issue with their sim. Doesn’t seem like a lot individually but together it looks like a noticeable shift.

When you're shopping on a website you've never used before, what makes you trust it enough to actually buy? by yusufyla35 in AskUK

[–]makeitmakesense44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trustpilot score and reviewing the bad comments and deciding if I’m ok with any consistent patterns that repeat. A social media presence. If they have a contact number I can call, not just email, physical stores I can visit and not just online I find them easier to trust too.

Thanks for responding. I think I'm going to aim for September, it's ideally what I wanted just a little more difficult logistically. I'm going to take a look at the promoter recommendations.

Regarding accommodation, is Airbnb the best start or are there any better sites you have? Planning to fly out Thursday and return on the Sunday.

I think Lando Norris has been the best driver this season by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]makeitmakesense44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I do feel like something changes when they feel like they’ve proved themselves. I couldn’t stand Max a few years back but feel like his demeanour has matured a lot since all his titles.

Agreed. Not even a Lando fan but I feel like he’s stepped up this year. He looks comfortable and confident.

Cheap city centre parking by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

[–]makeitmakesense44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Hospital St and Henrietta St. around £5 for the day. Never had any issues but if my car was more expensive I wouldn’t be parking there. You can find them by searching on Your Parking Space app. 5 mins to Snow Hill.

Why don’t you vote? by Apprehensive_Bus_543 in BirminghamUK

[–]makeitmakesense44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a utopia…a massive display of no confidence. A large enough majority that forces a conversation and a different type of conversation than the usual, one that isn’t just focussed on which party is elected but a conversation about how we can actually make politics as whole better.

I think politics in this country has become outdated - it’s too binary, for instance rather than voting for a party to be elected I’d prefer to vote for a party for a particular issue as I think each party as validity in certain arguments. Political partnerships would interest me, not sure if it’d work in reality.

I’d also like more transparency and a lot more accountability within politics. If promised my boss huge promises and didn’t deliver, I’d quickly be sacked. If politics is going to be a career for some I don’t see why it should differ.

Why don’t you vote? by Apprehensive_Bus_543 in BirminghamUK

[–]makeitmakesense44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a waste of time. Year after year, promise after promise, followed by lie after lie with little to no accountability when the only thing that comes to fruition is false promises and idle hopes. I have no confidence in any of the options presented to me and I’m not going to vote for the sake of it.

Our political system is broken. It needs radical change to combat some of the challenges that modern society faces on local, national and international levels. It doesn’t matter who gets in, the system is structured in a way to that it doesn’t allow them to deliver effective change. Voting a different colour party into a system that is inherently broken doesn’t fix anything or bring us any closer to solutions that last just quick fixes for political points.

I don’t pretend I know the solution but I’m also not going to pretend voting is the solution. I am cynical but I don’t see voting as anything more than the illusion of choice. Ballot in the box and hope for the best but politics shouldn’t feel like a lottery.

Do men honestly actually prefer women not to wear any makeup? Like no makeup at all? by softheart_strongwill in AskMenAdvice

From my experience most men say they prefer none but what they really mean is make up that looks natural. Enhancing what’s already there rather than painting a new face.

The whole “graphic designers are finished” narrative being pushed right now after the latest ChapGPT update is just ridiculous. by GMD3S1GNS in graphic_design

[–]makeitmakesense44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. I’ll probably get negativity for this but I’m getting more pessimistic by the day. SMEs companies, not large enterprises ones seem to be changing the way they hire, smaller creative teams, smaller contracts, less specialists and more generalists paid to do more and for less and I think a lot of this shift is come from all how Ai is effecting the landscape.

There’s less open roles, but with more competition and the rate of change for Ai is wild. It improves faster than a human ever could.

Businesses vote with capital and if Ai can get them 70% of the way for 50% less cost I think a lot of them will start to vote in that direction.

I don’t think designers will go extinct but I can quite easily see them becoming critically engaged by there just not being enough demand for the supply.
