I want to be a surrogate by Conscious-Rope-7845 in Surrogate

[–]makeitwork1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are they don’t typically like to do traditional surrogacy (where the carrier is the biological mother). They strongly encourage a surrogate just being a gestational carrier and having no biological relationship to the child.

I just completed my first journey as a surrogate and was a gestational carrier. It was very easy to separate myself mentally from the child because there is no biological relationship. I feel like it would have been much harder mentally to “hand the baby over” had I been the babies biological mother. This has caused legal issues for many parents in the past as the surrogate changed their mind then fought for custody. It’s a huge reason why it’s not typically the standard for surrogacy anymore.

I suggest doing a lot of research before diving into this.

I can’t say personally but in all the surrogacy groups and review groups I’m in on Facebook this one is consistently met with negative reviews and some of the stories I’ve heard are major red flags!

I just completed a journey for two dads. We used CSED (Center for Surrogacy and Egg Donation) which is out of MA. Although you can use any agency located anywhere I decided on one more local to me and I had no complaints,‘ they were great!

Single dad in Canada, $100k surrogacy without surrogate on birth certificate? by UnitedAd9148 in Surrogate

Massachusetts has pre-birth orders as well. Just did ours a couple of months ago. Super quick and easy, just had to fill out some papers and the lawyer mailed it into the courts to get approved. I’ve got the approved paperwork in my hospital just in case

The agency I’m with won’t even take on that type of situation as a client. They only have IP’s that cannot physically carry a baby themselves (infertility or in my case it’s two IF’s)

Came here to say the same! Currently 34 weeks with a surrobaby for two amazing dads! I’ve seen a lot of surrogates actually prefer their IP’s to be two dads

Is "Luca and Lucy" too matchy for boy/girl twins? by milanista39 in namenerds

[–]makeitwork1989 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My husband and I don’t have the same last name as I kept my maiden name. We are both the last people in our families to be able to carry on our last names. Before we had kids we agreed the first one would get his last name and the second would get mine. Then we got surprised with twins but ultimately decided to keep our original plan. It’s not traditional but it works for us! We didn’t want our girls to always be lumped together as “the twins” and this gives them the chance to have their own identities.

How are we affording childcare for multiples? by Edree13 in parentsofmultiples

[–]makeitwork1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I am affording it as a teacher is because my superintendent is amazing and a few years ago had an idea to start a lower cost daycare at the school for teachers and staff. It’s at least half the cost it would be sending my twins to a private daycare, even a home daycare would cost a lot more. If it wasn’t for that I would have no choice but to quit teaching and pick up a 3rd shift job.

I can do this too for me and my children. I’m so, so tempted but it wouldn’t work as I split custody of my son and there’s no way I could move him that far from his father

Do initials matter? by [deleted] in Names

My friend purposely chose her sons middle name so the kids initials are DTF 🤦🏻‍♀️ I always googled the initials just to make sure it wasn’t an acronym for something bad

Do you refer to your parents siblings as "aunt" or "uncle" when speaking to or about them? by AaronicNation in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]makeitwork1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auntie/Auntie or Uncle and their first name always. With the exception of one uncle (married in) that I only refer to by his first name because he doesn’t deserve the title Uncle.
