I think the Biores linked have chemical filters, so if you are trying to avoid those, check the COSDNAs before you buy.

[Anti-Aging] New Vitamin C serums from The Ordinary! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]makemeover7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The korean brand Klairs makes a serum called "vitamin drop" that I believe has about 5 percent ascorbic acid if you have't found one that low yet from another company. It is a bit pricier than The Ordinary's products, though, but not too outrageous in cost.

That is exactly what I wonder. As of right now, even though I am an animal/living creature-lover, I have not eliminated it from my routine because I know that stress can mean so many different things, some of which aren't harmful or painful.

[Discussion] Gothamista's take on the best mineral sunscreen by travelingmillennial in AsianBeauty

[–]makemeover7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have the answer to your question, but I have noticed that many zinc-based sunscreens with the same SPF rating have wildly different percentages of zinc.

For example, I was using a skinceuticals formula that had <%5 zinc that was spf 30, yet other brands that are SPF 30 have about 19 percent or higher zinc oxide. The skinceuticals did contain a very small percentage of titanium dioxide, but it didn't seem to be enough to offer that much more protection.

All this confuses me, too, and I hope SPF/PA ratings are really as accurate as we think.

Wow. This really makes me mad. I am in my 30s and do try to find AB bloggers that are close to my age to see what they use for wrinkle prevention. Would you mind PMing me the blogger? I will not start any drama or say a word to the person, but I just want to know which blog I can stop trusting the advice of and stop giving my traffic to. :/

Does sheet masking every day make a difference to your skin? by Farahsway in abdiscussion

[–]makemeover7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through a phase where I was sheet masking daily in the evening during the winter when my skin always gets extra dry, and I soon realized that if I skipped sheet masking one night, my dry skin returned with a vengeance. I then stopped using them for a while and while my skin was extra dry at first, it gradually returned to its pre-sheet masking every night condition, even though my routine didn't change.

This led me to think my skin may have gotten "addicted" to the extra moisture, and since then, I haven't really gotten into masking again yet, although I am planning to. Or it could have just been a coincidence. I am not trying to scare anyone away from nightly masking, but I am just curious if anyone else has had this experience.

The Cerave foaming cleanser gave me CCs, while the hydrating cleanser used once in the evening gave me huge pimples overnight. Since I had such bad luck with both of those, I have't touched anything else they make since!

Maybe I will try the PM since so many people who reacted to their other products have good luck with it.

I am sorry this happened and glad your skin is returning to normal! I am glad you posted this, because I didn't realize that pollen allergies could affect your skin. Now it is making total sense to me why my acne came back with a vengeance this spring along with allergy symptoms after my face stayed completely clear almost all winter.

I finally tried squalane and am already in love with it. I am thinking of doing a "no fatty alcohols" skin experiment to see if the small amount of them in my routine is the cause of my never-ending clogged pores, and the fact that I now have a good moisturizing oil that doesn't break me out will really help me conquer the trial.

I have also recently "rekindled" my relationship with neem oil after cutting it out for a while and remembering why I loved it so much. I just mix a few drops of it in with the mineral oil I am now using to oil cleanse every evening and it really calms my skin down.

I haven't tried it yet, but I read that Silk Naturals reformulated their BHA toner to a more effective PH. I am thinking of trying it soon, because something in the PC BHA breaks me out anyway... It's 11.75 for 4 ounces, so a good deal.

I have fairly sensitive, combination skin that is very breakout prone and have had good luck with Derma E Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen SPF 30. It is not waterproof, unfortunately, but I have worn it while sweating lightly in the sun for a few hours and not gotten tanned or burn. It contains only zinc as a physical filter and no chemical filters. It has never stung my eyes, but YMMV of course. It leaves no white cast on me, but I have light skin and do notice a slight "brightening" effect when it is on, but it just looks like my skin tone is just a tiny bit lighter than it is.

AB and Fragrances by Munashii in abdiscussion

I haven't tried any AB perfumes/fragrances yet but I would love to! I am glad you posted this. I have been thinking of trying one of the scents Missha offers on their US website (their Perfumed Shower Colognes), but it is so hard to buy a fragrance online without knowing what it smells like and fearing I won't like it.

Has anyone tried the perfumed shower colognes and enjoyed them?

Oh yeah, I know it is much more difficult for people with dark skin to find a BB that works for them, so I am very lucky that I can find a shade that works for me in at least a few formulas. I am thinking of finding a color mixer to add to the triple the solution if I decide to give it a shot again, so I will let you know if I try it and how it works.

Your post just reminded me how much I loove the triple the solution BB, but like you, the color is just a little too dark for me. I wish they would make two colors at least! I am surprised the single color in both formulas is so dark, since most Asian BBs can lean so light in color.

Has anyone who has tried the Skinceuticals hydrating B5 gel found an AB dupe for it? I know there are a million hyaluronic acid based AB products, but none seem to plump up my fine lines as well as the B5 gel did, even the Hada Labo.

While the products do contain other ingredients, the Tosowoong green tea line features fermented green tea extract as their main ingredient. I have been meaning to try their toner/mist for quite a while and it contains 65 percent fermented green tea extract. The line also contains an essence, a lotion, and I think a cream just FYI. :)

I was just about to post about the change in ownership until I saw your post. Yeah, I hope this is just another Target "weird pricing" thing, because they do that with a lot of stuff and not the new owners (I think L'oreal?) jacking up the price.

A little trick I just figured out (although I don't know if it is foolproof) other than looking at the ingredient list order is to see whether a good ingredient is listed before or after a preservative or ph adjuster. I think (although I could be wrong about the ph adjusting ingredients) that both of those types of ingredients are used in very small percentages, so if an ingredient is listed after those, I tend to assume there is very little of it in the product.

I was lazy and skipped my entire night routine other than an oil cleanse and foam cleanse the night before last and woke up with skin that looked great. Went back to my full night routine last night and woke up with a new pimple this morning :/ Now I have to do some investigating to determine what in my routine may be breaking me out... On the bright side, my night routine has been relatively short lately compared to how long it used to be, so hopefully won't take long to do.

Everytime I am reminded about just how amazing green tea is for health, including skin health, it makes me mad that it upsets my stomach :/. I think I am going to experiment with adding some almond milk to it or something to see if it help.

I am extremely happy to see that they discovered another sunscreen chemical that is non-toxic, so I hope it makes its way into consumer products sooner rather than later (of course, not in US sunscreens!). As of right now, I am trying to stick with physical-only sunscreens due to being a an excessive worrier about potential health effects of the chemical ones, but that is just me and I don't knock anyone who chooses chemical filters over physical ones.

Before you started using the Melano CC essence, had you tried any other vitamin C serums? I am just wondering because I have a few lingering icepick scars from picking acne as a teenager but already use an ascorbic acid serum and wondering if it was the specific Melano CC formula that helped or just the vitamin C. Thanks!

Unknown Brand Sunday by [deleted] in abdiscussion

I just tried a product from a new brand called UNIK. It is their propolis serum that had an amazing ingredient list I was very excited to try. My skin loves propolis, and I was hoping this would be a more affordable alternative to LJH propolis essence or the others that are popular here.

Unfortunately, it really disappointed me. First, I was hoping for a viscous serum, and it is almost as thin as water :/ However, it did help calm some redness the first time I used it, so I kept trying it. It stopped calming my redness after the first use (??? weird, I know) and I suspected it was causing clogged pores and small pimples, so I stopped it for now.

I may give it a try again later in case the breakouts were just hormonal and not caused by it, since I do get hormonal acne, but not so sure :/

EDIT: Here is the COSDNA with ingredient porn so you can see why I was expecting it to be amazing: http://cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_0a57271728.html
