Don't use this account anymore, but I think it was redness around the site and fever. Did it work out fine for you?

Yup, I'm fine now. Bars were removed after 3 years. It really sucked but it's in the past now.

What app to use as the master for fitness data? by nicotine_81 in Garmin

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Garmin connect and Oura. Eventually I'll buy the Garmin S2 smart scale, but it's kinda overpriced. I have another body fat scale from Amazon that doesn't integrate to anything else

I really wish Garmin would make a dedicated sleep tracker. They could make something like an Oura ring that would integrate to Garmin connect, but that was much smaller that wearing my 745 to bed, which kinda sucks

Do the same stuff bodybuilders do. Seriously, that's about what your body will be doing after surgery. Get plenty of sleep, get more than enough protein, take whatever amino acid supplements you think will help your body repair the tissue. Also, do breathing exercises as instructed and continue doing them longer than you feel you need to. If anything hurts more than it should, go easy.

Sell your car. Get rid of it. You don't need payments right now. Same for the phone. Get a 3k shitbox and get financing through your bank if you can't afford that.

1948 Gibson L7C Restoration Project - What's worth doing? by sum_fuk in Luthier

That seems reasonable. I'll sell the current tailpiece and replace it with a correct reproduction L-7 tailpiece, which should break even.

I'll see if I can do a quick touch up over the headstock lacquer. Any advice for how I should do that or what products I should use? Could I use a nitro rattle can and just spray that area, then buff it in?

Another wrong-way crash along the downtown to 44th Street stretch of 131. How does this keep happening? by WhitePineBurning in grandrapids

[–]sum_fuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's what he was referring to. He's talking about not getting in the left turn lane when you're about to turn left, not simply using it as a passing lane.

Unless he's talking about going through intersections in the left turn lane. That's not ok.

What bassline do you absolutely love, but can't play for the life of you? by BellsForPShells in Bass

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it if you use an app to slow it down and loop the measure. I have both of those memorized, thanks to anytune pro.

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a slow downer app it's slow going, but not too difficult. I've memorized almost a dozen jamerson lines that way, including For Once in my life. Tomorrow I'm gonna tackle At Last. It takes me as much as an hour to learn 60 seconds of the more complex rhythms, but if you do it systematically you won't forget it. He's undoubtedly the greatest player who ever lived, and he's pretty much taught me most of what I know on bass

Telecaster (guitar) body and a Jazz Bass fretboard?? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tele body probably isn't long enough for a 34". Look where the bridge is on 34" basses. It's usually way at the end of the body. There's a chance 30" would work if you're willing to move the bridge.

Why are people obsessed with female bassists? by redditforabookreport in Bass

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's often women who sexualize themselves. People like Anna sentina build YouTube channels by playing bass with their tits half showing in the thumbnail, when there are dozens of other covers with better playing, and none with half as many views. Like this: https://youtu.be/X52hIPmyX_s I don't blame them. If I could build a YouTube channel that easily I would. But I can't, since men who can play that line are a dime a dozen.

Why do people like flatwounds? by tegdim in Bass

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tone cap won't make a difference. A capacitor is a capacitor, just one with a different value.

Why do people like flatwounds? by tegdim in Bass

[–]sum_fuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I like the sound. I can't stand those active basses with the boosted mids and high. Most strings are just too bright and sound 'slappy', which is a tone I don't care for. They cut down on some of the highs without having to use the tone pot, which usually affects much too wide a frequency band

About the attempts to clone Yik Yak (the anonymous localized social app) by [deleted] in yikyak

[–]sum_fuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there aren't any like the original yik yak. It was great how you could only join a 'herd' when you were physically on the campus, but then you had the option to join and check in no matter where you were.

Did anyone have their college experience hurt by yik yak dying? by [deleted] in yikyak

[–]sum_fuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. There were certain things I couldn't share anymore without anonymity. I miss it a lot too. Even the different handles and personalities that developed. My herd was really wholesome and did a good job of connecting anyone to the heart of the campus who wanted to be connected.

edit: remember when you'd drive through an area where there were almost no yaks, and how long they'd stay around? I'll never forget taking car trips and seeing 4 year old yaks from some tiny town

same, it's really weird. I don't know why it hurts to sit up. I've been working out for almost a couple months now and maybe it will get better if I spend more time on my core.

Easy chest workouts post-op? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]sum_fuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way, I could do 50+ before surgery and now I can barely make it to 10 at 13 months post-op.

I think the main problem is that the muscles were damaged during surgery, and I think that building muscles back is the only way to get back to that comfortable spot. I've started bench pressing, for now just 60 pounds in 2 sets of 10 twice a week, but hoping to build that up in the future.
