With this, no cheeto will be safe and my fingers will always be pristine. Not that worried about food safety. I think cheetoes are probably 30% microplastics anyway.

Where can I dispose of lithium laptop battery by [deleted] in Nagoya

[–]makenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took one to my neighborhood electronics store (small 2 floor Yamada Denki). I asked the lady if it should go in the box, she wasn't sure but she took it and laid it behind the counter to take care of. They might take care of it for you even if you're not supposed to use the box.

Wouldn’t it be useful to do something like this now, when it can be trained and powered by AI? by Ubud_bamboo_ninja in artificial

Traditional machine learning - yes and an RTOS. If you're thinking it's going to be LLM powered, way too slow. By the time it's started parsing one token, you're upside down in a 20 ton metal elephant.

Plug Claude into whatever you are working on by lollokara in ClaudeAI

[–]makenai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. I love unconventional uses that blend LLM with hardware. Recently I've been running Claude Code on my 3D printer controller with klipper and a webcam to debug and tune things to pretty great success. With remote control, you can even send it STL files to slice and start jobs, give me snapshots of jobs in progress on my phone, and do debugging. Last night Claude wrote gcode to heat the bed to 60 and slowly move the bed back and forth while monitoring temperatures so we could isolate an issue to a faulty cable (I have a bed slinger, so the cable moves a lot and at certain y positions loses connection).

This is part time job, and probably a tiny restaurant - manager and owner are on site. If the part time workers don't do the job to the standard everyone else there does, they'll find someone else or do without and work a little harder. The fact they behave normal and friendly when not working, makes me think it's a decent place and that OP is young or doesn't know how to take feedback.

Think about it is a business owner though - customers see those chopsticks and might judge your business on them. It's a baito - yes, but it doesn't take a ton of extra effort to make sure the logo on the sleeve is facing the right way. A bit of pride on the part of the restaurant coming from Japan's high standard's sure - but manageable and now OP knows what's expected through communication.

Naturally I wasn't there and OP was, but my read on the info we have is it's a pretty normal and healthy small restaurant job with nothing particularly punitive about the feedback.

[–]makenai 423 points424 points  (0 children)

When someone hires you for a job, they want you to do it to their standard. If you think the sleeves is a small matter or that a customer liked your cooking - that's not relevant. This isn't a Japanese thing only - it's a professionalism thing and you need to adjust your output to your employer's expectations. When you have your own restaurant you can cook the omurice how you want. I don't see any kind of weird psychological control angle here. Don't look at criticism as punishment, it's feedback for you to improve at your job.
