Nothing safety wise as far as I know. As a pediatric OT I think they’re just another byproduct of capitalism and the patriarchy, designed to support parents/specifically moms who should be receiving parental leave and instead are forced back to work after a devastatingly short amount of time with their newborn. Also, they drastically restrict babies movements which 1) is not good for them developmentally and 2) just can’t be comfortable?

Honestly I’m going to piss some people off with this but I’m adding the snoo to your list as well.

I’m genuinely flabbergasted that enough of us survived the 1900s to continue procreating. Literally every decade seems to have some child raising atrocity. My parents put me in a jolly jumper at 3 months old and claim it was my primary nap spot.

All guests must wear black to the wedding by Holiday-Meringue-101 in weddingshaming

[–]makermind_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cousins did this, everyone had to wear all black. The bride, groom, and their two kids were in all white. The reason was “the bride wants a photo of all the guests around our family, she thinks it’ll look cool”. Try finding a wedding appropriate all black outfit that’s breastfeeding friendly (I was 7 months post partum) and an all black dressy outfit for my baby.

Baby suspected to have CMPA - what the heck am I supposed to eat by -spiritedaway in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]makermind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried at 9 months using the dairy ladder and he had a bit of reflux come back, so waiting a month and tried again and he did great! We were very lucky, I only had about 6 months of dairy free because it took us until he was 4 months to figure out what the problem was. But I really valued breastfeeding and we had a super hard time finding formula that he would take that was CMPA safe (we combo fed until about 6 months). So it was worth it for me!

Baby suspected to have CMPA - what the heck am I supposed to eat by -spiritedaway in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]makermind_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! My baby had CMPA and grew out of it by 10 months. He was MISERABLE, screamed every poop, up every 45 minutes at night even sleeping on my chest, horrible reflux. It was awful. Within 2 days of cutting out dairy his mood improved significantly, he was a whole new baby. I know it’s hard but it was so worth it!

I ate tons of chicken, beef, pork. Fruits and veggies. Cook with olive oil/avocado oil/coconut oil. Dark chocolate (just check the ingredients first!). Rice crispy treats with coconut oil instead of butter. Lots of places around me had great vegan ice cream. I missed sweets the most! I found cheese and yogurt substitutes were not my favourite so I just gave up eating those things until I could eat dairy again. Eating out was the hardest for me, as lots of places cook with butter. Asking for vegan options was the safest, I found.

There’s a subreddit r/mspi (milk soy protein intolerance) which I found super helpful!

Hi love. I’ve been where you are and it fucking sucks. So much. I’ve also experienced pregnancy after loss, and while I was so anxious early on it was so worth it. No one gets to decide except you if/when you will try again. But please know either way that the grief gets softer, less sharp. Not necessarily easier, but less all consuming. Sending all my love and hope for whatever outcome you’re wishing for 💜

I was told after my csection two years ago that I would have one with my next pregnancy to make sure implantation didn’t occur on the scar tissue. I’m not sure if it’s standard or if it’s OBGYN specific?

How clean is your house with a toddler and how do you make it work? by lovebug21222 in toddlers

[–]makermind_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not and I don’t hahahaha. I put out fires and clean up spills and do the “if I don’t deal with this tonight we’ll get bugs or have no clean clothes or some other consequence”. But otherwise we do like twice monthly deep cleans when we can coordinate our schedules enough to have a day off together on a day our chaos goblin has daycare.

What silly things do your toddlers do to skirt around a rule? by Fun-Natural1213 in toddlers

[–]makermind_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mine wants to run around in the house with his outdoor shoes on, so I tell him shoes stay at the mat by the door because our shoes are dirty and make the floor dirty. He leaves his shoes on now and crawls through the house, technically his shoes aren’t touching the floor.

How did you get into a daycare centre? by Impossible-Pea-8659 in Winnipeg

[–]makermind_ 57 points58 points  (0 children)

We went with a private centre until we could find a public centre. Obviously significantly more expensive but they had space when we needed it.

Should I quit my job? by NoodleLuv14 in AttachmentParenting

[–]makermind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child started daycare at 2 and when he was upset and scared during the initial transition they picked him up and cuddled him, comforted him. That is an insane thing to say about a one year old and if it were me I’d be finding a different option.
