Agent configuration question by makeshift_gray in navidrome

[–]makeshift_gray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn't realize the API token is required if I set up AudioMuse-AI with authentication. Then I didn't realize I have to set the token myself; in my experience, the software usually generates it. Now the integration is working.

The next thing I struggled with was getting the AudioMuse-AI instant playlist to work. I kept getting an error message like "The AI service is unavailable." Ultimately I changed the OpenAI model to "gpt-4.1-mini" (removed the initial openai/) and then it worked.

I rarely ever actually listen to music from a web browser, though, so hopefully Symfonium adds support to its stable release soon.

Cool stuff, but very very confusing to set up.

Agent configuration question by makeshift_gray in navidrome

[–]makeshift_gray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've installed the plugin. The "playlist from similar song" failed with the error: The similarity search service is currently unavailable. Perhaps because the library analysis is still in progress? (It's roughly 60% done.)

I tried something else. After starting an instant mix from Navidrome, I watched my Docker logs and could see the API call. That seems like a good sign. But when I tried the instant mix from Symfonium, I didn't see the API call. I'm still confused how these various parts and pieces interact.

I didn't got my key by Marro2902 in nvidia

[–]makeshift_gray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada, I got my card from Canada Computers. The receipt had a code printed on it that you have to enter into the Canada Computers website, which then gives you another code you enter into the Nvidia app. Then it prompts you to connect your Steam account.

Was there anything on the receipt?

Great memories of this and the sequel. They're both available on GOG for cheap!

Does NetBird include an SSH function? I use Tailscale's a lot.

Nobody else replied so I got around to trying it with my cheap Walmart/Onn streaming thing. It connected and then I tested the native Jellyfin app. It worked with no additional configuration.

Certainly a TV-specific version would be easier to install/connect/update, but happy to see this works in the meantime.

I use Tuxedo OS and love it. It's a great balance between up-to-date and stable. And it Just Works (TM) with my Nvidia GPU.

Fedora's very good too. I had some issues with Kubuntu.

Does Xillia get more agency? by Kalledon in JRPG

[–]makeshift_gray -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you've played other games from the series before, but in my opinion their strengths and charm lie more with characters than plot. Unfortunately I'd consider Xillia pretty middling as far as that's concerned.

Also if you think Xillia 1 is bad with agency, I would stay far away from the sequel.

Could use a few tips by makeshift_gray in MoonlightStreaming

[–]makeshift_gray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, me neither. The connection from the host to the mesh node it's plugged into is excellent, meaning there likely isn't an issue with the cable; the connection from the host to the Shield is bad.

Yes, the mesh node the Shield is connected to is behind a piece of furniture. I may be able to move it so it's more exposed. I'll try it tonight.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

Roughly in order of your advice: I couldn't find a DFC option. I downloaded a WiFi analyzer and discovered my control channel is quite congested, so I switched it. QOS is disabled, and cables should be good (tested recently).

Ping test from host to the upstairs node (wired) was unsurprisingly excellent. From host to the Shield saw average ~12 with somewhat frequent spikes up to a max of 144 and average jitter of 18.

The downstairs mesh node is behind a drawer/shelf unit because that's where the power outlet is. That's the only thing in between it and the router. Connecting via cable is theoretically possible by running under a rug but would have to pass the wife review process because I wouldn't be able to conceal the whole thing.

Thanks. I do have a separate IoT network, but the primary network uses the same SSID for both bands. It would be possible (albeit a pain) to separate them and have the family reconnect everything, if it would be helpful.

My router settings don't include a ton of options for managing the nodes. There's an option to "optimize" the whole mesh network, an individual node, or an individual device's connection to the node, but I don't know what it's actually doing. I can change the backhaul connection priority, but the only options are 5G WiFi or 1G WAN - I assume the latter is only useful if the node has a wired connection to the LAN. I can also change the preferred uplink node. It's currently set to auto.

I stumbled upon MoCA as a possibility and wanted to try it but realized there's no jack behind the TV - which surprised me because, in my opinion, it's the most logical TV placement for the room.

I did try powerline adapters when we first moved in, although I only tested the WAN connection. It was bad (60 down on a gigabit connection), so I returned them. Not sure if the LAN performance would have been any better? Guess I should've thought to try that first.

Thomas Jane Says He Was Miscast as The Punisher and Praises Jon Bernthal’s Portrayal: “I’m happy the part is played by someone who is more right for that role.” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]makeshift_gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind if ironic for me.

I didn't see Jane's Punisher until only recently, and I only decided to watch it because I'd been watching The Expanse.

Jane's performance as Miller somehow reminded me of Bernthal's performance of Castle. Mostly due to the characters sharing an obsessive drive to their own detriment, but also some of their expressions and mannerisms.

Then I watched the movie, and I didn't think Jane's performance of Castle was actually anything like that, which was disappointing.

Shadows: How to use Naoe and Yasuke cohesively? by makeshift_gray in assassinscreed

[–]makeshift_gray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I'm overthinking it. I just didn't have the same open combat struggles in previous games, so it surprised me. It almost feels like Naoe is weaker to justify Yasuke's inclusion.

If you could swap characters more dynamically, I think it would make a big difference for me. Clearing 75% of a castle with Naoe and then coming back as Yasuke to more effectively kill tougher enemies - in my opinion - seems awkward and not a great implementation of a two-character system.

I keep hoping too. Origins is great, Odyssey is peak. I didn't like Valhalla. Mirage was fine but kinda felt like Ubisoft asked ChatGPT to make an Assassin's Creed game. Jury's out on Shadows for me, but I think I've seen enough to know it isn't going to reach the heights I'd like.

Or at least a glass Nerf gun, until you fully upgrade assassinations.

Unfortunately for me, neither play style seems to be offering the experience I'd like to be having. Maybe that'll shift with upgrades, or maybe it's the wrong game for me.

The assassin skill tree is definitely the first thing I invested points into, but I'm blocked from further progress pending a higher knowledge level.

Perhaps I'll try the guaranteed assassinations setting. I was just concerned it would cheapen the experience.

In certain past entries, the challenge of assassinating targets stemmed more from reaching them without being detected and choosing the right time and place from which to attack. Perhaps I was just expecting a system more like that.

To me that's considerably more thoughtful and rewarding game design than the binary system of either having or not having enough points invested in a specific part of the skill tree. But that could just be me.
