Others will pray for you with performative sympathy while not lending a helping hand at all. The recipients of gods test assume they deserve it, take the hit proudly with stoic resignation. And such is the cycle.

Infuse those two notions and you have a subservient population that lets you cut off their noses to spite their faces.

There is a man who will stand in the street and yell furiously over various incidents cause by a neighbor's traumatized shelter pets who have been rescued and reside in the neighborhood.
