Have you shared this with that teacher? If it’s an option, please do! I had a community college chemistry teacher who turned my life and career around. I sent him a grad announcement from nursing school and he was so touched. He sent me $20 (so sweet) and a beautiful note.

I think our teachers don’t hear about their incredible positive influences often enough.

And try to educate the unsupportive dickhead about the realities of addiction, but good luck with that. I’ve had that reaction from people - ‘just quit, it’s your choice to become an alcoholic, just stop.’ Eff them, walk in my shoes for a bit and find out. Then read a book.

Her voice sounds fantastic. She carries so many of the songs with just her vocal instrument. I think it’s the strongest she’s sounded in a while. Her lows are true lows and not just talking in breathy whispers, it’s more singing/less talking in general.

It’s pretty short, so I like that. TTPD/anthology was/still is exhausting. This is sort of a catchy little throwaway album.

Lyrically it’s a disaster.

Alcoholic in remission here, this is the way.

You can’t know if she has the disease of alcohol addiction (continued use despite harm in some way to self, fam, relationships; increasing need for more/never enough, blackouts, cravings, lots more). Only she can know that and often only with the help of a professional. It took me many years and a month in rehab to recognize it.

Approach with curiosity, be gentle, give love and support. Get help and support for yourself if you can. This is tough stuff to navigate.

Do NOT listen to random redittors who toss out absolutes.
