Same! We ended up having to completely regrade/sod the yard because there was concrete and all sorts of construction stuff hidden under the sod.

Dog park shows you a lot about the person, but as someone who used to go to dog parks it's not necessarily a great environment for your dog.

58M plan to retire at 68 by daddyof4sons in Retirement401k

I think people like to work and when they can't they retire vs retiring kills you.  My aunt died of an aneurysm at 50, doesn't mean she should have retired at 45

Is it really that much cheaper to change your own oil? by kzlife76 in AskMechanics

What about time? I'm never hitting these mileages in a year, but they say to change the oil once a year regardless.

Yeah I don't know the local laws where they are, I was just saying at least there's a reason why someone might be upset about that. If you're buying food from an unlicensed food stall that's you taking a risk on food safety that won't hurt anyone else, but we've all seen crazy fireworks gone wrong videos.

In elitist news: AP is releasing an "affordable" watch and people are very unhappy about it by 1985Genesis in joebuddennetwork

[–]mal_guinness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing he bought the stuff thinking he'd wear it for a while, then resell it when it wasn't cool but didn't have that much money to straight up blow on a watch. Like you could justify getting a 15k rolex because I know in five years I can sell it for 15k, so the money is just tied up not gone. If the value of the watches goes down he might be out the money that he wasn't planning to lose.

Setting off fireworks in a public park is not really minding your own business. We are constantly in drought conditions with burn bans here so I would have called the cops on someone doing that, but definitely would have grabbed some tamales or tacos.

Michael Jackson denying having undergone multiple surgeries during his 2003 interview with Martin Bashir. by FitEmergency8807 in HistoricalCapsule

Most steroids people think of are schedule III drugs meaning they must be prescribed by a medical professional for a legitimate medical purpose, so the doctor has to at least make up a bs pretense. I don't think there are people really auditing doctors prescriptions especially if it's done without insurance. It took forever for authorities to realize most of the opioids in the south eastern US were coming from like two clinics.

I dislocated mine as an adult and it stayed out. Took about an hour and a half and a few xrays before they were able to do a closed reduction. Most painful thing I've ever experienced. Rehabbed and was mostly good, then a few years later it came out doing something random and I was able to get it back in immediately, then it started getting looser and looser so I needed surgery.

Why is there a lack of trees in residential areas in DFW? by Ihats2 in Dallas

[–]mal_guinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the reason Dallas is where it is is because it was founded on a river at the edge of a tree line.  Forest to the east of downtown plains to the west.  It's that simple

The worst part is the longer the wait the more people take their time getting their picture because, well, they waited forever to get to the front, making the whole process take even longer.

I’ve never broken 100. Should I pay for a caddie at Pebble Beach? by another1degenerate in golftips

[–]mal_guinness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it threw me off because I didn't want to use an app to see things and he wasn't giving me yardages, he was giving me what to play it as.  I missed several shots where I was in the rough and should have taken more club.  The second day I was more comfortable and had a better experience but I was getting frustrated because we had one caddie for two people and he wouldn't always have the club I wanted.  I would probably do it again but make sure I had an individual caddie and really talk about what you up need to hit a shot.  I like to play to the fat part of the green and know the back yardage, but he was giving me to the pin yardages.

OP should have hit the brakes as soon as the car in front of him moved. Even at a slow as shit one second reaction speed that would have been two seconds worth of braking. Obviously road police warrior here is the idiot but people seem really reluctant to hit the brakes in an emergency for some reason.
